The second week of Yankees spring training kicked off Monday with extended on-field sessions, giving key young players a chance to prove themselves. Among the standout names? Oswald Peraza and Jasson Dominguez—two potential impact players looking to earn their spots on the Opening Day roster.
Yankees give Oswald Peraza a shot at third base

One of the biggest lingering questions for the Yankees iswho will start at third base? DJ LeMahieu remains the presumed option, but after back-to-back seasons of declining production, the Yankees appear open to alternatives.

That’s where Oswald Peraza comes in. The 23-year-old got reps at third base during Monday’s workout, a position he hasn’t played much in his professional career. However, with Anthony Volpe locked in at shortstop and the second base job still up for grabs, Peraza’s best shot at regular playing time could come at the hot corner.
The Yankees have long viewed Peraza as an elite defender, and if he can prove himself at third—while showing improvement at the plate—he could force his way into the starting lineup. With the Yankees still weighing their infield options, Peraza’s performance this spring could change the conversation.
Jasson Dominguez sends a message with a monster HR

Jasson Dominguez didn’t waste any time making headlines on Monday. The Yankees’ highly touted outfielder launched a towering home run off Carlos Rodon during live batting practice, sending the ball into the second deck at the team’s Tampa facility.

The blast came just hours after Dominguez admitted he felt “lost” from the right side of the plate last season. If Monday’s BP session was any indication, he’s starting to find his rhythm again.
Later in the session, Dominguez showcased his power from both sides of the plate, crushing a line drive off the right-field wall. The Yankees are looking for him to take over in left field this season, and if his bat continues to impress, his spot in the lineup could become a lock.
With third base still unsettled and left field up for grabs, Peraza and Dominguez are making early statements in camp. The Yankees have key roster decisions to make, but if these two prospects keep performing, they could play major roles when Opening Day arrives.
