The Yankees are in their second week of spring training, but as they gear up for their first game, Giancarlo Stanton has given fans something to worry about.
Giancarlo Stanton breaks silence on his injury

This Monday, Giancarlo Stanton admitted to MLB.com’s Bryan Hoch that he’s suffering from a ‘very high’ level of pain in both elbows. As he hasn’t swung a bat in nearly a month, the Yankees staff has no timeline or optimism regarding his availability for Opening Day
Giancarlo Stanton said he is dealing with a “very high” level of pain in both elbows. He has not swung a bat for 3-4 weeks, and is unsure if he can be ready for Opening Day.

Furthermore, Giancarlo Stanton revealed that managing pain will be part of his return from elbow injuries:
“Look, whether you call it tennis elbow or something else, there are tears in the tendon. So if you ask when it felt good or when it felt bad, there’s always some level of pain. You just have to deal with it. Right now, the smartest thing to do is give it time.”
Elbow soreness lingered throughout last season, but it didn’t stop him from hitting 27 home runs and driving in 72 runs. When the Yankees needed him most, he delivered—batting .273 with seven home runs and 16 RBIs over 14 playoff games. His ALCS performance earned him MVP honors as the team made its way to the World Series.

Asked about Giancarlo Stanton’s status, manager Aaron Boone didn’t commit to a timeline. “It’s hard to say,” Boone said. “We’re going to be smart with it.”
Giancarlo Stanton’s Opening Day status was first reported as uncertain by ESPN on Sunday night. Pinstripes Nation later added that his tendonitis—his 13th career injury—could have a bigger impact on the Yankees’ 2025 outlook than expected.
At 35, Giancarlo Stanton is expected to be a key part of the lineup, especially with Juan Soto no longer in the picture.
Injuries have been a recurring theme in his career. Since joining the Yankees after his MVP season in Miami, he has played more than 140 games just once. Last year, he appeared in 114 games but missed over a month with a hamstring injury.
