Ahead of Sunday’s series finale against the Kansas City Royals, Yankees manager Aaron Boone provided some encouraging injury updates.
Here is the latest update:
GIANCARLO STANTON, OF/DH
Left Achilles tendinitis.
Status: 10-day injured list, retroactive to July 24.
Missed 8 games (including Sunday).
Latest update: Stanton, who has been on the IL, is set to resume baseball activities early this week. If there are no setbacks, Stanton could return to the lineup in 10 days.
ZACK BRITTON, LHP
He underwent Tommy John surgery on September 8, 2021.
Status: On the 60-day injured list since March 13.
He missed 103 games.
Latest Update: Britton will throw live batting practice for the first time since his surgery this week. He will likely do so at least two or three times before being cleared to begin rehabilitation. The Yankees have not specified a timeline for Britton’s return, but late August appears to be a possibility.
LUIS SEVERINO, RHP
Mild strain in the right latissimus dorsi.
Status: On the 15-day injured list since July 14.
He has missed 15 games.
Latest update: Severino’s two-week break from pitching is scheduled to end on Monday. In the best-case scenario, he’ll return on September 1.
