Boone hints at extended benching for Yankees’ Gleyber Torres

Gleyber Torres is definitely going through a rough patch. After missing Wednesday’s game against the Mets, Yankees manager Aaron Boone mentioned that he might give Torres multiple days off.

Boone said benching Torres was a product of just feeling that he needs it. Said he might give Torres multiple days off.

This decision comes just hours after reports of a conversation between Boone and Gleyber Torres following the Yankees’ 9-7 loss to the Mets.

In Wednesday’s press conference, Boone said that Gleyber Torres respected the decision to be left out of Game 2 of the Subway Series.

 “I talked to him (Gleyber Torres) last night and then I called him this morning when  I decided I was gonna have him out of the lineup and then I saw him here.

“He (Gleyber Torres) said okay, I think he just respects the decision.”

The New York Yankees are wrapping up preparations as they take on the Mets at Citi Field in the second matchup of the Subway Series, set to begin at 7:10 PM EST this Wednesday.

If not for the $14.2M salary, Torres would because serious candidate to be DFA at the trade deadline.
