Aaron Judge finds himself in an unexpected battle. It’s not on the baseball diamond. The Yankees superstar and his wife Samantha, are locked in a Florida legal dispute. They claim they were grossly overcharged for luxury home renovations. Designer Amanda Drew of Drew Designs allegedly inflated costs by at least $750,000. One contentious item? A $33,000 couch.
Inside the legal claims

The conflict erupted in January. Judges filed suit against Drew. They alleged fraud, hidden charges, and deliberate billing manipulation. The renovation projects involved homes in Tampa and New York City. Court documents suggest the couple believes their celebrity status made them targets for inflated pricing.
Drew didn’t stay silent. She countersued in March. She denied all allegations. Her legal response claims the Judges broke their contract without valid cause. Drew insists her charges reflect standard industry rates. She maintains all costs were properly disclosed. She also contends the couple still hasn’t paid for completed work.
A couch at the center of it all
The infamous couch has become a symbol of the dispute. The Judges claim this custom piece was billed at $33,000. They argue its true market value is just $18,100. They point to this as clear evidence of “designer deception.”
Their accusations go deeper. The Judges allege Drew created fake invoices. They claim she padded costs. They say she avoided transparency. The Tampa Bay Business Journal reports Judge’s attorneys have now issued over 60 subpoenas. These target vendors, contractors, and suppliers involved in the project. The legal team claims Drew is hiding crucial financial records. This prevents them from calculating the full extent of alleged overcharges.
Judge’s performance unaffected

The courtroom drama hasn’t impacted Judge’s baseball prowess. His 2025 season remains exceptional. Through 46 games, he’s batting an impressive .401. He leads the American League. His stats include 15 home runs and 41 RBIs. His .490 on-base percentage tops the league.
The Yankees currently hold first place in the AL East. Judge’s stellar performance has been instrumental. The legal distractions show no sign of affecting his play.
This case highlights a broader issue. Celebrities, especially athletes with massive contracts, often face exploitation. Judge’s $360 million contract makes him a visible target. The couple argues this visibility made them vulnerable to price gouging in the luxury renovation market.
