The Max Fried era with the Atlanta Braves has officially come to a close, marking the end of a memorable chapter for the left-handed pitcher and the team’s passionate fanbase. The ace, who recently signed an eight-year, $218 million contract with the New York Yankees, took a moment to reflect on his decade-long journey with the Braves in a heartfelt Instagram tribute video.

Max Fried rekindles a decade of memories

His message resonated deeply with Braves fans, who have supported him since he joined the team. In his emotional farewell, Max Fried expressed immense gratitude for the city of Atlanta, his teammates, and the organization that helped shape his career.

“Lots of emotions right now, but mostly I’m filled with gratitude and appreciation for all your support these last 10 years,” Max Fried wrote in his post. “Atlanta is the organization that traded for me. It’s where I made my Major League debut. And it’s where, together, we won a World Series!”

The video montage featured highlights from his career, including his early years, pivotal moments from the Braves’ World Series run, and unforgettable plays like his walk-off hit back when pitchers still batted. The tribute concluded with footage of Max Fried tipping his cap to the Atlanta crowd during his final home start — a symbolic gesture marking the end of an era.

Max Fried acknowledges the journey

The pitcher’s message extended beyond his on-field achievements, emphasizing the relationships and community that made his time in Atlanta special. Max Fried thanked a wide range of people, including teammates, coaches, medical and clubhouse staff, front office members, and even the stadium’s grounds crew and security personnel.

“To the fans, thank you for welcoming this West Coast kid and making Atlanta feel like home,” Max Fried continued. “It’s been incredible to play for you, feel your energy, and represent the Braves. As I head into this next chapter, I’ll always look back at my time in Atlanta with so much love. It’s truly been an honor.”

He concluded his message with a touching declaration: “World Champs forever.”

His Braves legacy defines excellence

During his time with the Braves, Max Fried made 168 appearances, including 151 starts. His career statistics with the team are nothing short of impressive: a 3.07 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, and 863 strikeouts. He earned two All-Star selections, three Gold Glove Awards, and twice received votes for the prestigious Cy Young Award, including a runner-up finish to Miami Marlins’ ace Sandy Alcántara in 2022.

His on-field leadership played a crucial role in the Braves’ success, particularly during their World Series-winning campaign. Max Fried’s dominance on the mound and his calm, collected demeanor earned him the respect of teammates, coaches, and fans alike.

The New York Yankees added Max Fried on December 10, 2024 on an eight-year, $218 million deal.

Max Fried’s departure follows that of Braves catcher Travis d’Arnaud, who also shared a similar farewell video after signing with the Los Angeles Angels earlier this offseason. These emotional farewells have become a meaningful way for players to connect with fans while transitioning to new teams.

Looking ahead, Braves fans will get a chance to see him again soon. The Yankees are scheduled to visit Atlanta for a three-game series from July 18 to 20, where Max Fried is likely to receive a warm tribute from the team he once called home.

As Max Fried embarks on the next phase of his career in New York, his legacy in Atlanta remains cemented. His dedication, performance, and heartfelt farewell have left an indelible mark on the franchise and its devoted fanbase. While Braves supporters may be bidding farewell to one of their most beloved players, Fried’s time in Atlanta will be remembered as nothing short of legendary.
