On Sunday, the Fox studio turned into an MLB playground where Yankees icons Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez again teamed up to show their skills. On the opposite end was Michael Strahan, the former New York Giants legend.
As part of the Fox Sports NFL Sunday segment, the baseball show brought joy to New York Yankees fans with a TV segment featuring MLB franchise legends. As Strahan took the opportunity to pitch to Yankees icons Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez, the popular sports television program transformed the studio into a Home Run Derby showdown.
Teddy Bradshaw, one of the prominent personalities from Fox Sports, was positioned on the upper floor to witness the spectacle. FOX NFL insider Jay Glazer and Howie Long humorously highlighted Strahan’s tooth gap, referring to it as “Hit it to the gap.”
Derek Jeter was tasked with hitting wiffle balls thrown by Strahan during the entertaining segment. Following successful contact with the initial two pitches, the legendary shortstop swung and missed on the third, prompting Strahan to exclaim, “You can’t go out like that.”
The FOX television personalities erupted in enthusiastic cheers as Derek Jeter smacked the next pitch out of the park.
Next up was Rodriguez, and although he hit the ball, the retired three-time MVP also missed a pitch with a swing and a miss.
Fans are always eager to watch Derek Jeter
Despite the Yankees‘ absence from the playoffs in 2023, fans were elated by the appearances of Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez on the show.
In the 2023 MLB playoffs, Derek Jeter and A-Rod are taking on the roles of FOX baseball analysts. Having been Yankees teammates from 2004 to 2014 and securing a World Series victory in 2009, their camaraderie was evident during the segment.
Adding to the festivities, fellow Fox MLB analyst and Boston Red Sox legend David Ortiz enthusiastically participated by hitting all three whiffle balls thrown his way with ease.
