During his weekly talk with Talkin’ Yanks podcast, New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone has confirmed that Carlos Rodon is set to make his debut in pinstripes at Yankee Stadium on Friday, July 7th, against the Chicago Cubs, unless there are any unforeseen circumstances.
Boone announced this on Tuesday, ahead of the Yankees’ loss in the opening series against the Athletics.
Carlos Rodon has been recovering from a left forearm injury and a chronic back issue and is currently undergoing rehabilitation. He has one more rehab game on Saturday, where he aims to increase his pitch count to around 60 after throwing 48 pitches in his second rehab outing with Double-A Somerset last weekend.
What will be Carlos Rodon’s third rehab game?

The location for Carlos Rodon’s third and final rehab game is yet to be determined. Both Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and Double-A Somerset are playing away games. Another possibility is High-A Hudson Valley, which is a 90-minute drive from New York City, although the level of competition there might need to be stronger. Alternatively, Rodon could travel to Bowie, Maryland, for a Double-A game or head to Syracuse for a Triple-A game.
Regardless of where he is, Rodon’s next game is scheduled six days after his previous one. This enables him to stick to his current routine and pitch for the Yankees as per their schedule.
Following Carlos Rodon’s debut, there will be a six-day gap before the Yankees’ final off day before the All-Star Game break. Despite the extended rest, manager Boone doesn’t anticipate any negative impact on Carlos Rodon’s pitching progression. The extra day off may benefit the left-hander as he prepares for his second MLB start.
