NEW YORK — Alex Rodriguez tried to create some buzz for October. His daughter needed only four words to change the conversation.
The former New York Yankees star shared an AI-generated video featuring versions of himself and longtime Boston Red Sox rival David Ortiz as FOX prepares for its MLB postseason coverage.
Rodriguez accompanied the clip with a simple message: “We’re ready for postseason on MLB on Fox.”
Then Natasha entered the comments.
“Daddy this is AI…”
The response provided an unexpected family fact-check to an otherwise promotional post and quickly became the most interesting part of Rodriguez’s latest postseason tease.
It also arrived as Rodriguez prepares to return to a television desk filled with personalities familiar to Yankees fans.
Natasha Rodriguez quickly spots what A-Rod is doing
The video showed AI-generated representations of Rodriguez and Ortiz performing together, with Ortiz appearing to rap while the Yankees great danced alongside him.
Rodriguez did not need much time before someone close to him identified exactly what viewers were watching.
Natasha’s comment was brief enough to work almost as a punchline.
“Daddy this is AI…”
There was no indication of a serious family disagreement. The exchange instead offered a light glimpse into Rodriguez’s social-media life and how quickly an attempt at a slick postseason promotion could turn into a father-daughter moment in public.
Rodriguez has remained one of baseball’s most visible former players since his final Yankees season in 2016.
His media career has kept him closely connected to October baseball even as his relationship with the Yankees themselves has evolved during the decade since his retirement.
A-Rod and David Ortiz remain unlikely television partners
The AI clip leaned into a pairing baseball fans have become accustomed to seeing on television but would have found almost impossible to imagine during Rodriguez’s playing career.
Rodriguez spent 12 seasons with the Yankees. Ortiz spent 14 seasons with Boston and became one of the central figures in the Red Sox-Yankees rivalry.
Now they share a FOX studio.
FOX Sports listed A-Rod, Ortiz, Derek Jeter and Kevin Burkhardt as the core of its MLB studio coverage for the 2026 season.
That lineup gives the network an unusual mix of Yankees and Red Sox history.
Jeter and Rodriguez won the 2009 World Series together in New York. Rodriguez and Ortiz were contemporaries whose teams spent years battling for the American League East and postseason supremacy.
Their on-air interaction now has become part of FOX’s baseball presentation.
Rodriguez’s AI video appeared designed to play off that chemistry ahead of another postseason.
Instead, Natasha supplied the line that attracted attention.
Rodriguez remains connected to Yankees championship generation
The post came during a week in which Rodriguez again found himself interacting publicly with another member of the Yankees’ 2009 championship club.
After the Yankees honored CC Sabathia at Yankee Stadium, Rodriguez congratulated his former teammate on social media.
“Congrats to my brother, and one of my favorite teammates of all time, the legend @CC_Sabathia on joining the legends that live on Monument Park,” Rodriguez wrote.
The Yankees retired Sabathia’s No. 52 and honored him with a Monument Park plaque.
Rodriguez remains in a different place in his relationship with the franchise.
His No. 13 has not been retired, and he does not have a Monument Park plaque. However, his return to Yankees events in recent years has provided signs that the distance between Rodriguez and the organization has narrowed.
His television role also ensures he remains visible whenever the Yankees reach baseball’s largest stage.
Postseason brings A-Rod back into Yankees orbit again
That becomes especially relevant in October.
Rodriguez played 22 major league seasons and finished with 696 home runs, including 351 during his Yankees career.
His time in New York included enormous success, controversy and ultimately the 2009 championship that remains the Yankees’ most recent World Series title.
Now October gives the former Yankees infielder another platform — just from the other side of the camera.
The latest promotion was supposed to remind viewers that Rodriguez and Ortiz will again be part of the postseason conversation.
Natasha Rodriguez made sure viewers noticed something else first.
Her four-word response turned an AI-generated promotion into a very human family moment.
