The dream debut on Sunday instantly made Jhony Brito a hero in the Bronx. The starter pitched a great game for the New York Yankees who went on to shut down the Giants 6-0 and clinch the three-game series 2-1.
However, while MLB fans are celebrating the big day of the Dominican, the Yankees sent Jhony Brito to Triple-A RailRiders. The team’s official transaction page displayed the news soon after his first game in the major leagues.

Brito threw five scoreless innings today with six strikeouts, an impressive and historic MLB debut.
Still, this move isn’t seen as very important for the Yankees or a big jolt to Jhony Brito. At the moment, the Yankees don’t need to keep a fifth starter on the roster. It is being seen as a strategic move until the next few games. A reliever, who the team needs the most, may replace Brito on the roster.

Jhony Brito made the most of his chance to start against the Giants. In five scoreless innings, he gave up just two hits, walked one batter, and struck out six Giants batters to help the Yankees win 6-0.
In the third inning, Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton each hit a home run for the Yankees, giving Jhony Brito the run support he needed. In the fourth inning, Kyle Higashioka also hit a home run.

Jhony Brito was just as good in the interview after the game as he was on the mound.
“I always thought about having a good debut,” Brito said using an interpreter. “You have to be confident to do your job. If you start thinking about bad outcomes, that’s usually when things get out of hand. I’m very happy.”
In 2015, the Yankees gave Brito a $35,000 contract, and since then, he has been seen as one of the best prospects in the team’s farm system. He finally showed everyone why the Yankees promoted him ahead of many pitchers to start in an important game on Sunday.
