The grip of Gerrit Cole was immaculate against the Mariners and doomed their offense enabling the Yankees a much-needed win. However, his wagging finger controversy took center stage shadowing his gem. Inspired by the incident, Jomboy Media immediately unveiled selling of a t-shirt with Gerrit Cole’s swagging finger on it embossed.

In a thrilling match against the Seattle Mariners, the Yankees emerged victorious with a 3-1 win. However, after striking out Mariners’ Jose Caballero in the seventh, the Yankees ace yelled and wagged his finger at the Seattle dugout.

Gerrit Cole brandished his finger in the direction of the Seattle dugout while making his way off the playing field. The Yankees ace later confirmed that he wagged his finger in response to the Mariners’ coach doing the same at him.

Afterward, during a post-match interview, Gerrit Cole took the opportunity to clarify the incident.

“Their manager [Scott Servais] had some choice words for me coming off the field, and he was wagging his finger at me, so I wagged my finger at him.”

Jomboy Media came out with the Gerrit Cole swagging finger t-shirt immediately after the incident. However, fans soon spotted that the Gerrit Cole swagging finger image on the t-shirt shows six fingers of the Yankees ace. This led to criticism and jokes about it on Twitter. While pointed out it had a mistaken print, others slammed it for not having the Yankees’ pinstripes.

Many joked that the six-finger Gerrit Cole t-shirt was made in a hurry without due consideration and is an attempt to exploit the emotions of the Yankees fans.
