On the same day the Yankees acquired Jazz Chisholm Jr. from the Marlins, a rumor emerged suggesting that another Miami player has drawn the attention of the Bronx Bombers.
Trade rumors

According to the NY POST, the Yankees are among six contending teams prominently involved in trade talks for Marlins All-Star left-hander Tanner Scott.
Scott, who hasn’t allowed an earned run since June 13, is considered the most coveted closer on the market. The AL East rival Orioles, Scott’s former team, are also in the mix, along with the Phillies, Dodgers, Diamondbacks, and Mariners.
Scott, a free agent after this year, boasts a remarkable 1.18 ERA and has held opposing hitters to a .127 batting average, a figure reminiscent of the Yankees’ recent struggles at the plate. Yankees closer Clay Holmes, who also made the All-Star team, has solid overall numbers (2.88 ERA, 10 walks, and 43 strikeouts in 40 2/3 innings) but has been in a slump, coinciding with Scott’s hot streak. Since June 13, Holmes has a 7.14 ERA. Holmes, also a free agent at year’s end, has blown seven of 28 save opportunities, while Scott has blown just two of 20, with none recently. Scott strikes out slightly more batters (53 in 45 2/3 innings) but has control issues, walking about one batter every two innings.
The Diamondbacks, having already traded for left-handed reliever A.J. Puk from the Marlins, are also pursuing Scott. The Yankees and Orioles are particularly interested due to their closer needs, with the Orioles’ Craig Kimbrel facing some struggles. The Phillies, the best team in baseball, have a solid bullpen but are still in the hunt for Scott, whose value has never been higher. Carlos Estevez of the Angels is another closer likely to be traded.
Meanwhile, Chisholm, who has a 101 OPS+ this season, is a significant addition for the Yankees. Multiple outlets confirmed that the Yankees will send three prospects to the Marlins: catcher Agustin Ramirez, infielder Jared Serna, and utility player Abrahan Ramirez.
