Nestor Cortes is happy that Aaron Judge is back in the Bronx for the next season. Last week, the Yankees signed the power hitter to a nine-year, $360 million deal. Nasty Nestor thinks this will help the team make a big step forward next season and maybe even win the World Series.
The slugger is unquestionably the team’s leader, both on and off the field. When asked by MSG Network’s Rebecca Haarlow what it meant to have the 2022 American League Most Valuable Player back in pinstripes, Nestor Cortes, like many Yankee fans, said:
“Having Aaron Judge back sets us up for something big…hopefully, we come with the ring.”
Nestor Cortes was at Madison Square Garden when Aaron Judge agreed to the deal the Yankees gave him. He was there watching the Knicks’ game against the Atlanta Hawks, which ended in a victory for New York.
Everyone is excited that Judge is coming back to the Bronx, from team members to fans. Nestor Cortes, a fan favorite, was one of the first people to talk about the Yankees slugger’s return.
Nestor Cortes knows that winning is expected in the Big Apple, just like every other New York Yankees player. He talked about how happy he was that Judge was coming back, but he stressed that the main goal now is to win a championship ring.
The first step is done with the return of Judge. Since 2009, when they beat the Philadelphia Phillies in the World Series, the Yankees have not been able to win. The Yankees won 99 games during the season, but the Houston Astros beat them in the ALCS. Nestor Cortes pitched two games, including the last one, against Houston.
After paying a lot of money for a star player, the team will expect Judge to do well in 2023. During the regular season, the four-time All-Star was the key to the Yankees‘ offense. His 2022 season will go down in baseball history as one of the best in modern times. Last season, Judge led Major League Baseball in almost every important offensive category, including home runs, RBIs, runs, OBP, and OPS. But he needs ample support from Nestor Cortes and co.
