Outfielder Joey Gallo of the Dodgers Spoke Out about His Former Team’s Fans
Dodgers fans were disappointed that the team didn’t make a big trade at the deadline, especially after the Padres acquired Juan Soto. The Dodgers acquired a reliever and two-time all-star outfielder.
Los Angeles got struggling left-handed hitter Joey Gallo from the New York Yankees in hopes of reviving his career and getting as much out of him as they could. Well, he’s given them something back so far with a line of .267/.267/.533 in 15 at-bats. The 28-year-old has never had a high average, but he makes up for it with his power.
He recently showed off his power by hitting a 3-run home run on Wednesday, which helped his team beat the Twins 8-3. As he went around the bases, fans chanted his name, which made the stadium roar.
Gallo is talking about the time he spent in New York. Fans of New York hated him because his time with the team was not a good one.
He hit just .159 and had an OPS of .660 in 140 games with the Yankees. Gallo came to the Yankees hoping to help them, but he couldn’t handle the bright lights and pressure of playing in New York.
Joey needed a change of scenery and maybe a new group of fans all along.
