Harrison Bader wants to see Bryan Reynolds in pinstripes

Harrison Bader, who is fast becoming a Yankees fan favorite after his 2022 post-season fireplay following his trade from St. Louis, believes Bryan Reynolds is apt to don the pinstripes. The center fielder has said that Reynolds is a great player and he played against him a lot when the outfielder was with the Pirates and they were in the same division.

Harrison Bader, who is focused on making the Yankees champions next season, also told that would love to share the Yankees outfield with Bryan Reynolds. When asked if he expects a potential Yankees-Pirates trade to bring Bryan Reynolds to the Bronx, Harrison Bader told:

“If there’s a position that he (Bryan Reynolds) would be on our team, he would definitely be an amazing addition. I admire him as a tremendous talent. He’s a stud. That would be incredible.”

The Yankees have a vacant left field position after losing Andrew Benintendi to the Chicago White Sox. It is still the most likely place where the Yankees will try to improve before the 2023 MLB season starts. Bryan Reynolds is among the probables, who the Yankees are looking at, to cover that area.

Bryan Reynolds has already sounded out the Pirates for a move and the Yankees could get him out of Pittsburgh though they face a big obstacle. He would help improve an offense that struggled to score runs in the postseason. Reynolds was an All-Star for the National League in 2021, and he just finished a season in which he hit .262/.345/.461 (126 OPS+) with 27 home runs and 62 RBIs. He will make $6.75 million next year and will be controlled by the team until 25.

Pittsburgh isn’t very interested in trading Bryan Reynolds for players who aren’t stars. For the Yankees, that could mean requests to trade shortstop Oswald Peraza, the team’s No. 3 prospect, or highly rated Jasson Dominguez. In the past few years, the Yankees and Pirates have traded pitchers Clay Holmes and Jameson Taillon.

Yankees are in no hurry for Bryan Reynolds

Spring training starts in less than six weeks, and only a few of the best free agents haven’t been signed yet. The New York Post says that the Yankees are still one of the teams that are interested in Pirates outfielder Bryan Reynolds. “Unrealistic” is a word that has been used to describe the price. The Yankees have a big need in left field, and Bryan Reynolds, a switch-hitter with all-around skills who is still under team control for three more years, has always been an obvious choice.

Bryan Reynolds, who turns 28 later this month, requested a trade earlier this offseason, but the Pirates are not required to trade him. While many teams are looking to have him, the Pirates continue to stay rigid with the hope of a big gain from his trade. At this point, it appears that the Yankees are simply waiting for the asking price to fall. If no one is added to the Yankees’ starting left field position, Oswaldo Cabrera and Aaron Hicks are the two outfielders who will compete for the job.

The Yankees would love to have Bryan Reynolds. But the Pirates are asking for a lot because they want to be competitive with his contract for the next three years. They did offer to keep him there longer, but they didn’t give him much: six years and $75 million.
