The atmosphere in New York is filled with jubilation as the Yankees complete a sweep of the Cincinnati Reds in an away game, igniting the excitement of the fans. After a challenging beginning to the season, the Bronx Bombers appear to be reclaiming their formidable form from 2022. Amidst the enthusiastic celebrations of the fans in the stands, Anthony Rizzo, a pivotal figure in the Yankees’ lineup this year, and Gleyber Torres engaged in a lighthearted and comical exchange at Great American Ballpark, adding to the joyous ambiance.

Throughout the initial phase of the season, the team encountered challenges as various players found themselves on the injured list, causing disruptions. Even the team captain, Aaron Judge, had to sit out a few games due to injury. However, Anthony Rizzo emerged as a reliable pillar of support, contributing significantly to the team’s victories during this period. Gleyber Torres, showcasing his own remarkable performance, has formed a strong bond and camaraderie with Rizzo, highlighting their mutual understanding and synergy on the field.

Gleyber Torres tries to be playful

To provide some context, it is worth noting that Anthony Rizzo is currently 33 years old, while Gleyber Torres is 26 years old. While many people often say that age is merely a number, the dynamics can be different when it comes to sports. However, during a recent Yankees game, Gleyber Torres seemed to be in high spirits as he engaged in a conversation with Anthony Rizzo on the field, all while wearing a microphone.

Asking Anthony Rizzo to greet him, Gleyber Torres shared a lighthearted moment by recounting Rizzo’s response: “It’s too early for that.” It’s important to note that the game was set for 1:30 pm in the afternoon, and Gleyber Torres amusingly highlighted this fact, jokingly referring to Rizzo as the “old man” and acknowledging the challenges of playing a game at that early hour. Gleyber Torres couldn’t help but laugh at the situation.

The playful exchange between the two Yankees players garnered attention from fans on social media, who took delight in joking about the interaction.

Fans take Rizzo’s side

When players are on the field, their primary focus is typically on the game itself. Therefore, it was understandable that Rizzo preferred not to engage in conversation while Gleyber Torres had a microphone on him. Some fans even supported Rizzo’s decision, recognizing his dedication to his craft.

I missed the first take live, that’s awesome 😂

— Jade (@SportyShortii) May 21, 2023

A particular fan empathized with Rizzo’s aversion to engaging in conversation, regardless of the hour.

rizz is like me it’s too early to talk to people😭

Instances like these consistently create a jovial atmosphere during the game, and in the digital era, they can be preserved and shared online indefinitely. Rizzo and Gleyber Torres typically share a brotherly bond, but as expected, even siblings and teammates engage in playful banter and teasing at times.
