The reek of misdirection regarding Juan Soto’s future could be nearing its end, according to multiple reports dropped last Thursday. All teams linked to Soto’s pursuit are expected to propose offers up to $600 million, an amount anticipated due to information brought by Pinstripes Nation this past weekend.

As per Jeff Passan of ESPN, all teams that have made offers remain firmly in contention, including the Los Angeles Dodgers. Passan reported on Wednesday evening that the frenzy could come to a conclusion soon. Key meetings are scheduled over the weekend, which could ultimately determine Juan Soto’s destination.

According to @JeffPassan, all teams that have made an offer to Juan Soto are still in including the Los Angeles Dodgers. He also said that there will be meetings over the weekend, which can end in a decision on Soto’s next team. pic.twitter.com/h2kbwoXxSD

Juan Soto’s latest telenovela: Boras unveils newest tips

Juan Soto’s telenovela earned its latest twist last Thursday when Scott Boras dropped a bombshell, stating he would start cutting teams from the list of suitors. That same day, Andy Matino reported that an anonymous league insider revealed the Toronto Blue Jays were expected to bid the highest offer.

Adding to the intrigue, Ken Rosenthal and Evan Drellich reported in The Athletic that bidding has already surpassed the $600 million mark. This raises questions about the Yankees’ position in what has become a fierce competition. On the same day, Scott Boras was spotted at Dodger Stadium during Blake Snell’s presentation, where he hinted at narrowing down contenders, further clouding the situation.

While Matino suggested the Blue Jays might be frontrunners, MLB insider Michael Feinsand countered that few within the league believe Juan Soto will end up in Canada. Bryan Cashman, another MLB writer, echoed this sentiment, arguing that Toronto doesn’t align with the traits Boras highlighted. Following the World Series, Boras described Soto as a “Mona Lisa,” emphasizing the need for a team with the right “mentality.” This has cast doubt on the Blue Jays’ ability to meet those expectations.

Scott Boras and the Winter Meeting spotlight

With reports of bids reaching $600 million, Rosenthal added that a decision on Soto’s future is expected by the end of the Winter Meetings, which kick off Sunday, Dec. 11, in Dallas. However, there’s speculation that the process could wrap up even earlier.

Serious contenders alongside the Yankees include the Mets, Red Sox, Blue Jays, and Dodgers. Boras has confirmed meetings with “a number of franchises” and is in the process of eliminating teams. Soto, described as a “methodical thinker,” appears in no rush, suggesting no imminent decision.

History supports the idea of a Winter Meeting resolution. Boras is known for dominating this event, as he did in 2019 when he secured deals for Gerrit Cole, Stephen Strasburg, and Anthony Rendon over three consecutive days. This track record has heightened expectations for Soto’s signing as the meetings approach their conclusion.

For now, Yankees fans and the baseball world remain in suspense, grasping at straws as they await Juan Soto’s next move.

And you? Do you think Soto and Boras have already made a decision and are just keeping everyone in suspense? Leave your comment below.
