The stage is set for a highly anticipated showdown between the New York Yankees and the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2024 World Series. Fans have been eagerly awaiting this matchup, which features two powerhouse franchises with a long history of success.

The Dodgers secured their spot after defeating the New York Mets in Game 6 of the National League Championship Series (NLCS), while the Yankees claimed their place with a dominant five-game victory over the Cleveland Guardians in the American League Championship Series (ALCS).

For the Yankees, this marks their first World Series appearance since 2009, a season that ended with their last championship win. On the other hand, the Dodgers are back in the Fall Classic for the first time since 2020, when they captured their long-awaited title during a pandemic-shortened season. The upcoming series will be the 12th time these two iconic franchises have met in the World Series, but their last showdown was all the way back in 1981, making this a nostalgic and thrilling matchup for baseball fans.

Heading into the series, the odds slightly favor the Dodgers. According to BetMGM, Los Angeles has a slight advantage with odds of -130 to win, while the Yankees sit at +110. The first game of the series is set for Friday, Oct. 25, at Dodger Stadium, where the Dodgers will look to capitalize on home-field advantage. The spread for Game 1 currently has the Dodgers favored at -1.5, with the total over/under set at 8 runs.

As the Yankees prepare to chase their 28th World Series title and first in over a decade, there’s a lot on the line. The Dodgers, meanwhile, are aiming to add another championship to their trophy case, solidifying their status as one of the most successful teams of the past few years.

Here’s a breakdown of the World Series schedule:

  • Game 1: Friday, Oct. 25 at Dodger Stadium, 8:08 p.m. ET
  • Game 2: Saturday, Oct. 26 at Dodger Stadium, 8:08 p.m. ET
  • Game 3: Monday, Oct. 28 at Yankee Stadium, 8:08 p.m. ET
  • Game 4: Tuesday, Oct. 29 at Yankee Stadium, 8:08 p.m. ET
  • Game 5: Wednesday, Oct. 30 at Yankee Stadium (*if necessary), 8:08 p.m. ET
  • Game 6: Friday, Nov. 1 at Dodger Stadium (*if necessary), 8:08 p.m. ET
  • Game 7: Saturday, Nov. 2 at Dodger Stadium (*if necessary), 8:08 p.m. ET

Both teams have battled through challenging seasons and playoff runs, setting the stage for what could be one of the most exciting World Series matchups in recent memory.

With the odds in favor of the Dodgers, the Yankees will need to rely on their star power and timely hitting to overcome the slight disadvantage. Regardless of the outcome, this series between the Bronx Bombers and the Dodgers is bound to be one for the ages.
