Yankees star Trent Grisham is married to Megan, a licensed professional counselor, specializing in mental health, who he met in the sixth grade.

As Trent Grisham continues to make his mark as a valuable contributor for the New York Yankees, the center fielder draws his strength from more than just athletic ability. Behind his baseball accomplishments stands a relationship that has provided unwavering stability throughout his professional journey. His wife, Megan Grisham, a licensed mental health counselor, has been his constant companion since their early days in Texas.

While Grisham establishes himself with the Yankees during the 2025 season, his story encompasses not only professional determination but also personal commitment, shaped by a partnership spanning more than a decade.

The couple is expecting their first kid this week, and the outfielder took the Yankees’ paternity leave to be on the side of Megan.

Who is Megan Grisham?

While Trent has carved out his path on the diamond, Megan Grisham has developed her own professional identity. At 28, she works as a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, specializing in mental health services and offering virtual therapy through her practice listed on Psychology Today.

Known by her maiden name Megan Alexa before marriage, she initially pursued the performing arts, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre Performance from Baylor University. Her career path later shifted toward mental health, culminating in a Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Concordia University Irvine, completed between 2020 and 2023.

Through her counseling practice, Megan provides therapy and psychological support to clients across various platforms, applying her training to offer care that complements the high-pressure environment her husband navigates professionally.

A relationship rooted in longevity

Trent and Megan’s connection predates his baseball fame by many years. According to content shared on Trent Grisham’s Instagram, their relationship began in 2011, following an initial meeting in sixth grade. Their years of mutual support and shared growth led to marriage on January 4, 2020.

Now, having been together for more than 13 years, their bond continues to thrive, even as Grisham adapts to life in New York City’s intense media spotlight.

Private life in a public world

Despite their increasing visibility, the Grishams maintain a relatively private personal sphere. Megan’s Instagram account remains restricted, with over 2300 followers – reflecting her preference for discretion amid growing attention. Her work as a counselor inherently values confidentiality, principles that seemingly guide how she balances life in the public eye.

The couple occasionally shares glimpses of their personal life through Trent’s social media, from anniversary celebrations to candid moments during the MLB season. Notably, Trent marked Megan’s 28th birthday in September 2024 with a heartfelt tribute celebrating their journey together.

The support system behind the player

For Trent Grisham, Megan represents far more than companionship; she provides essential emotional grounding as he navigates professional baseball’s demands. Transitioning between teams, weathering performance fluctuations, and adapting to new cities challenge many players – having reliable support away from the ballpark can prove crucial.

Fellow players and coaches frequently emphasize the importance of life balance beyond baseball. For Grisham, Megan’s consistent presence, coupled with her professional understanding of mental health, offers invaluable support.

From Fort Worth to the Bronx: Dad Grisham’s rise

Raised in Fort Worth, Texas, Grisham first showcased his exceptional talent at Richland High School, where scouts quickly noticed his baseball prowess. The Milwaukee Brewers selected him as the 15th overall pick in the 2015 MLB Draft, setting the stage for his major league debut four years later in 2019. After a brief period with Milwaukee, he was traded to the San Diego Padres, where he established himself as a defensive standout, capturing two Gold Glove Awards in 2020 and 2022.

Despite offensive challenges – including a modest .184 batting average during his 2022 Gold Glove season – Grisham’s defensive excellence remained undeniable. His skills ultimately brought him to New York, where he now contributes to a Yankees squad with championship aspirations.

Yankees

As the Yankees continue their campaign in the 2025 MLB season, Grisham’s contribution as a defensive anchor in center field remains vital. His capacity to perform under pressure, complemented by personal stability away from the stadium, makes him an increasingly important player.

While media coverage naturally focuses on his athletic achievements at Yankee Stadium, the narrative beyond the headlines – of an enduring relationship built on mutual support, resilience, and shared aspirations – adds meaningful context to Grisham’s story.

For an athlete recognized for defensive excellence and determination, his partnership with Megan Grisham underscores that athletic success often stems from more than natural ability; it’s anchored by those who provide support throughout the journey.
