After a dull Friday, the Yankees’ offense showed a spark in Saturday’s Game 3. While Aaron Judge hit his first playoff home run this year, Oswaldo Cabrera recorded his first career postseason homer. However, both homers were not enough as the Yankees lost the game, pushing them to just one defeat away from elimination.
After being moved down to ninth in the batting order, Oswaldo Cabrera recorded his first career postseason hit by ripping a double down the right-field line in his first at-bat. He then crushed a no-doubt home run to the right for his first playoff homer, which put the Yankees up 4-2 and gave them the lead at Progressive Field.
Oswaldo Cabrera’s reaction to the home run was priceless. The rookie player turned toward his team’s dugout immediately after his swing and shouted as a show of achievement. Then, he tossed the bat up in the air and began to run slowly while facing the Yankees’ dugout. He completed his run with dance and celebration.
The Yankees put a lot of faith in rookie Oswaldo Cabrera, but he hasn’t helped the Bombers score any runs yet. Cabrera didn’t get on base in any of the eight times he was up to bat in two games. He struck out five times. In the end, you can’t score if you can’t get on base, and Cabrera hasn’t been able to help his team do that.
In Game 1, Oswaldo Cabrera made a great catch on the left-field wall. In Game 2, he came close to making a sliding catch, which helped Cleveland score a few runs. Even though it was a hard play to make, Cabrera has made it a lot this season. In just 47 games, he has saved nine defensive runs above average.
