Luis Rojas was a member of the Mets organization for 15 years.
On Tuesday, he’ll be at Citi Field for the first time in a different uniform as the Yankees‘ third-base coach, a position he took after being removed as Mets manager after 2 years.
The Mets struggled under Rojas, now 40, finishing fourth in 2020 and third a year ago, despite having to deal with the COVID-shortened period in his debut year and other COVID-related problems last season.
Last year, Rojas was in charge when the teams met in a doubleheader on July 4th and September 11th.
Rojas joined Aaron Boone’s coaching staff in The Bronx after being let go at the end of the 2021 season.
Since, Rojas moved from Queens to New Jersey with his family, where he is getting used to crossing the George Washington Bridge.
He was altered by Buck Showalter, and the Mets constructed a 12-game advantage at the end of May, however this lead has since shrunk to one-and-a-half games entering this series.
