Juan Soto is making waves on and off the field after signing his historic 15-year, $765 million contract with the New York Mets. The superstar slugger, now the highest-paid player in MLB history, celebrated his monumental deal with his brother Elian Soto in a fashion as bold as the contract itself.

In a video shared on Elian’s Instagram, Soto is seen standing in a hot tub, jubilantly shouting and checking his phone as an unseen companion sprays him with beer. The caption accompanying the video read, “GOT HIS ASS. METS BABYYYYY.” At one point, Soto lifts his arms in victory while someone off-camera cheers, “You earned it!”

A New Era for the Mets

Soto’s signing marks a turning point for the Mets, who now boast one of the most formidable lineups in baseball, pairing Soto with Francisco Lindor and a strong supporting cast. Coming off a career-best season that included a .989 OPS and 41 home runs, Soto is expected to supercharge the Mets’ offense as they aim to build on last year’s run to the NLCS.

Heartbreak in the Bronx

For Yankees fans, the celebration is bittersweet. Soto’s clutch performances during his lone season in the Bronx — including a pivotal home run in the ALCS that sent the Yankees to the World Series — endeared him to the fanbase. Despite their best efforts to re-sign him with a massive 16-year, $760 million offer, Soto’s departure to Queens leaves a gaping hole in the Yankees’ lineup and a new rivalry storyline for the ages.

As the Mets look ahead to a bright future, Soto’s hot tub celebration is the first of many high-energy moments expected from the slugger in Queens.
