Derek Jeter met his wife Hanna Davis in 2012. By then he had become a baseball legend and retired in 2014 after being the face of the New York Yankees for 20 seasons. Because he was so well-known, he was always on the front page of newspapers. However, Hannah, a model and television host, was not aware of his baseball career until they met. She had credited the success of their relationship to the fact that met in the offseason.

As a famous baseball player, the news always talked about Derek Jeter‘s relationships. But the ex-Yankee shortsop was usually private about his relationships and did what he could to keep them as personal as possible. This goes back to when he was dating Hannah Davis.

During the first two years of dating, both the Yankees’ Captain Clutch and Hannah didn’t talk about their relationship and wouldn’t answer any questions about it. Before the 2013 MLB season, they began dating during the off-season. Hanna used to say that his habit of keeping relationships personal was one reason why her relationship with Derek Jeter worked.

Hanna didn’t know Derek Jeter was a baseball superstar before they met

Hannah Davis once told that she was glad she didn’t know who Derek Jeter was before they met and started dating. The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model has admitted that their relationship clicked because she met Derek Jeter when it was the offseason and away from the glare of the public that is usual during the regular season. So, she got to know Derek Jeter as a person, not just as a famous baseball player.

In a piece that she wrote for the Players’ Tribune, Hannah Davis revealed, “Derek and I met during the off-season, and I think that was a lucky break. It let us spend some time together away from New York. I didn’t have any preconceptions about who he was, and I didn’t need much more to go on than this: I had met the nicest guy, and I wanted to get to know him on my own terms. Not Google’s.”

During this time, Derek Jeter and Hannah didn’t go out as much so they wouldn’t be seen by the media. They wanted to hang out and learn more about each other. All of Jeter’s past relationships had gotten a lot of attention from the media, so it made sense that they would want to stay out of the spotlight.

When they were dating, the two kept their relationship very quiet. So, other than the fact that they were together, not much is known about when Derek Jeter began dating her. But they stayed together and got engaged in 2015. A year later, in July 2016, they were married. Jeter is now married to Hannah, and they have three daughters together.

Jeter has become more open since retiring

Since leaving the Yankees, the famous player has been more open about his personal life. The former shortstop for the Yankees is now on social media, and Derek Jeter sometimes posts about his family and kids.

This is a huge step forward since Derek Jeter rarely talked about his family when he was playing. Could the relationship between the two not been the same had they met during the regular season?
