During the game against the Rockies, the Yankees showed concern as Gleyber Torres appeared to be in pain after fouling a ball off his left knee.
Gleyber Torres shakes off injury scare as Yankees defeat Rockies 3-0
Despite the injury scare, Gleyber Torres remained in the game and continued to play, indicating that it was only a minor issue. Torres went 1-for-4 with a strikeout, maintaining a .272 average with 10 home runs and 60 RBIs this season.
Interestingly, even though nothing significant came of Gleyber Torres’s momentary discomfort, the Yankees still faced an unexpected setback with DJ LeMahieu. Prior to tonight’s game, LeMahieu, who has been battling injuries throughout the season, had to be scratched from the lineup after a freak accident during batting practice.
While fielding groundballs and taking throws at first base, LeMahieu suffered a facial concussion when two balls were thrown his way at the same time. According to NJ.com, one of the throws, from third baseman Jazz Chisholm, struck him on the right cheek, forcing him to leave the session in pain. Ben Rice replaced him at first base for the series opener against the Colorado Rockies.
The Yankees, however, continued their strong performance, winning their third straight game with a 3-0 victory over the Rockies. Giancarlo Stanton contributed with a solo home run, while Aaron Judge, who is having an outstanding season with 49 home runs, added another to increase his league-leading total. Judge has been in excellent form lately, hitting five home runs in his last four games.
Carlos Rodon was stellar on the mound, throwing six scoreless innings and setting the tone for the win. The bullpen, featuring Luke Weaver, Jake Cousins, and Clay Holmes, combined for three no-hit innings to close out the game, securing the Yankees’ victory.
