When the Yankees & Blue Jays meet in Toronto just at end of September, it seems like their best players might have something to talk about.
In the 5th inning of Sunday’s 4-2 Yankees win, Alek Manoah hit Aaron Judge with a 92 mph fastball. One of the Yankees, Gerrit Cole, reacted quickly by jumping over the dugout railing while both benches fell to the ground. Judge kept the peace by telling his team members to calm down, which stopped a fight from happening.
Cole said after the game that he didn’t know if Manoah did it on purpose with 1st base open, however, he was tired of Yankees batters getting blown out.
Manoah said to Judge after hitting him that he just lost control, which is what he told the Yankees‘ star. He did dare Cole to challenge him.
Judge, on the other hand, played down the incident. His main goal was to keep going and win.
Manoah and Luis Severino talked from the dugout after Severino hit Lourdes Gurriel Jr. with such a fastball in April. This time, Cole stood up for one of his teammates.
