After suffering their worst loss of the season—a crushing 12-2 defeat—the Yankees’ manager, Aaron Boone, addressed the possibility of removing Anthony Volpe from the roster during his weekly interview on “Talkin’ Yanks.”
Boone’s decision on Anthony Volpe influenced by Jazz Chisholm’s injury

Although Boone had considered making a move, Jazz Chisholm’s recent injury played a significant role in his decision to keep Anthony Volpe on the field for now. Boone feels that despite Volpe’s current struggles, it’s important to give him more time to regain his form.
“Depending on Jazz’s situation, we might need a day regardless to reassess where we are,” Boone said. “I do think Anthony Volpe last night was not swinging it great. I think part of it was fouling the ball off his foot, but I think he’s through that now. And I think last night he got more back in line with where he was. But I feel good about him being out there, but that has been on my board, but I think I’m playing him tonight.”

Anthony Volpe’s recent slump
Anthony Volpe didn’t have his worst night ever since joining the Yankees, but it was far from a standout performance. He managed just one hit and one walk in a game where the entire team struggled.
To make matters worse, Anthony Volpe’s recent performances have been underwhelming. In his last seven appearances, he has only managed 2 hits, 2 RBIs, 2 walks, and 2 strikeouts, with a batting average of .074 and an on-base percentage of .138 over 37 at-bats.
These numbers are concerning, especially considering his earlier success in the season. Currently, Anthony Volpe has 124 hits, 11 home runs, and 495 at-bats, but the majority of these numbers were accumulated early in the season.
