Aaron Judge rechaza el título de “rey del jonrón” ante Barry Bonds

Aaron Judge, actual líder de jonrones de las Grandes Ligas, va camino de batir un nuevo récord de jonrones esta temporada. A pesar de toda el aura que se ha creado a su alrededor, el slugger considera que está muy lejos de la leyenda de los Giants, Barry Bonds.

Judge, que lleva 57 jonrones hasta la fecha a falta de 20 partidos y se espera que llegue a los 65, considera a Bonds el “rey del jonrón”.

Bonds, la estrella de San Francisco, es el líder histórico en jonrones en una sola temporada. En 2001 acumuló 73 jonrones.

A pesar de sus logros y jonrones en una era de béisbol difícil de golpear, en la que persigue un récord de la AL de 61 años, Judge lo sitúa por debajo de Bonds.

Judge va camino de superar los 60 jonrones esta temporada y tiene la oportunidad de inscribir su nombre en los anales de la historia del béisbol de las Grandes Ligas. A estas alturas, el hombre de 30 años tiene 57 jonrones, lo que le sitúa a cuatro del récord establecido por Roger Maris en 1961.

Sin embargo, a pesar de que Aaron hará historia por sí mismo, sigue creyendo que los 73 jonrones de Bond en una temporada son el récord de más bateos en una sola temporada.

Bonds logró 73 jonrones en 2001, tres más que Mark McGwire en 1998. Bonds tenía entonces 36 años. Bonds terminó su carrera con 762 jonrones, la mayor cantidad en la historia de las Grandes Ligas de Béisbol. Esto consolidó su posición como el mejor bateador que jamás haya jugado a este deporte.

En comparación, Barry Bonds bateó 142 jonrones en sus primeros seis años completos en el Salón, mientras que Aaron Judge, que tiene 30 años, ya ha acumulado 215 jonrones de carrera en ese periodo.

Aaron es el favorito para convertirse en MVP de la AL esta temporada. Como su contrato termina con la temporada, es sin duda el mejor agente libre disponible esta temporada baja.
