Aaron Judge‘s diamond-encrusted gavel necklace caught fans’ attention throughout the season, sparkling beneath his Yankees uniform as cameras captured every at-bat. The Yankees captain’s expensive accessory generated widespread speculation about its origins and significance.

The mystery has been solved. The $20,000 custom jewelry piece represents both friendship and family in one dazzling display.

Stanton’s thoughtful present for captain

Judge kept quiet about his necklace’s source for months. The Post learned that teammate Giancarlo Stanton commissioned the elaborate piece as a surprise gift. The slugging teammates share a well-documented friendship that extends far beyond baseball, and this gesture elevated their connection.

Miami jeweler AJ Machado created the stunning gavel using 14-karat white gold and more than 12 carats of VVS-grade diamonds. Three amethyst bands accent the design, adding both brilliance and symbolic meaning. Machado operates AJ’s Jewelry and has established himself as professional athletics’ premier custom jeweler. He collaborated directly with Stanton to balance everyday wearability with profound personal significance.

“Judge loved it,” Stanton messaged Machado after presenting the gift — confirming the thoughtful surprise hit its target.

Meaningful details embedded in luxury

The necklace transcends flashy ornamentation through carefully chosen personal elements. Judge’s daughter Nora and her birth date — January 27, 2025 — are inscribed on the pendant.

His wife Samantha receives recognition through “Sam” engraving, while their dogs Gus and Penny also appear.

A “2x” marking acknowledges Judge’s pair of MVP awards. A rose design in rose gold atop white diamonds provides the finishing artistic touch.

This gavel serves multiple purposes beyond fashion. It functions as a wearable memorial to Judge’s most important relationships while subtly referencing his “All Rise Foundation,” which supports youth through community programs.

Machado: Sports world’s premier jeweler

AJ Machado has created iconic jewelry for sports’ biggest names since launching his business in 1992. He started by serving University of Miami football players before expanding to NFL, NBA, and MLB clientele. His roster reportedly includes over 500 athletes plus entertainment figures like Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Drake.

ESPN recognized Machado as “the most well-connected” custom jeweler in professional sports in 2011. He has maintained that reputation through memorable creations including the University of Miami’s sapphire-covered turnover chain.

Machado experienced a surreal moment watching Judge wear his creation during a live Yankees game in New York City. “It was pretty cool,” he said, describing the gavel’s brilliance under stadium lights as Judge entered the batter’s box.

Yankees embrace modern athletic culture

The Yankees historically favor conservative, traditional aesthetics. Today’s clubhouse reflects contemporary sports stardom, where elite athletes blend heritage with luxury goods.

Jazz Chisholm Jr., another Machado client and emerging MLB talent, recently appeared at a fashion event carrying a custom Birkin bag decorated with Swarovski crystals mimicking his jersey design. High fashion and sports culture no longer remain separate during off-seasons or All-Star celebrations. Players now integrate these elements into year-round personal branding while teammates bond through meaningful, customized gifts.

Judge’s leadership philosophy made visible

Judge’s leadership extends beyond statistics or defensive positioning. As Yankees captain, he maintains team unity, establishes high expectations, and guides younger players. Stanton’s decision to create jewelry representing Judge’s public and private personas — father, husband, MVP, and team captain — demonstrates the respect Judge commands among teammates.

Judge has avoided publicity regarding his necklace. However, including his daughter’s name and commemorating family milestones reveals his transformation from a promising young player into an established icon with a broader purpose.

For fans, the necklace represents more than diamond-studded jewelry. It provides visual proof that baseball’s biggest stars carry personal stories close to their hearts, literally.

MLB continues evolving into a league where culture, community, and performance intersect seamlessly. Stories like Judge’s Necklace reveal the human elements behind athletic excellence. Every home run celebration involves a player with interests, relationships, and experiences shaping their approach.

This particular jewelry piece represents friendship forged in pinstripes and celebrated through diamonds.
