The New York Yankees (48-40) and the Chicago Cubs (40-46) are set to face each other, with the Cubs currently ranking third in the NL Central and the Yankees holding the third spot in the AL East. Following Cody Bellinger’s impressive four-hit performance on Thursday, the Chicago Cubs and the New York Yankees are poised to clash in their upcoming game. It will see the much-anticipated debut of Carlos Rodon in pinstripes.

When: Friday, Jul 07, 2023.

Time: 7:05 p.m. EDT.

Where: Yankee Stadium, New York City, (50,287).

TV: NBC Sports Bay Area, YES Network

Stream: MLB.tv, Direct Tv, YES Network DTC

MoneyLine: Yankees -177, Cubs +150; over/under is 8 1/2 runs.

Pitching matchup: Carlos Rodon will start for the Yankees while the Chicago have Jameson Taillon as their starter.

When playing at home, the New York Yankees boast a solid 27-21 record, contributing to their overall record of 48-40. Their lineup has been formidable, with the team’s hitters collectively holding an impressive .410 slugging percentage, placing them at eighth position in the American League.

During their away games, the Chicago Cubs have registered a 19-24 record, which has contributed to their overall standing of 40-46. Interestingly, the Cubs have excelled in games where they have managed to avoid surrendering any home runs, boasting an impressive 25-16 record in such contests.

The upcoming Friday’s game marks the inaugural meeting between these two teams in the current season. In their most recent ten games, the New York Yankees have achieved a balanced record of 5 wins and 5 losses. During this stretch, their batting average stands at .254, while their earned run average (ERA) reaches 4.97. Notably, the Yankees have maintained an even run differential over this period.

Yankees to start with Carlos Rodon

During the previous season, Carlos Rodon’s team managed a 17-14-0 record against the spread (ATS) in the games he pitched with a spread involved. The most recent outing for the 30-year-old left-handed pitcher occurred on Friday, September 30, when he delivered an impressive performance, throwing six scoreless innings as the starter against the Colorado Rockies.

Last season, Rodon experienced success as a moneyline favorite, with his team winning 58.3% of the games he started in that role, accumulating a solid 14-10 record. Overall, in games where Rodon took the mound last season, his team achieved a respectable 16-15 record.

Yankees Injured List: Jake Bauers, Willie Calhoun, Nestor Cortes Jr., Ryan Weber, Aaron Judge, Greg Allen, Jonathan Loaisiga, Lou Trivino, Frankie Montas, Luis Gil, Scott Effross.
