New York Yankees @ Minnesota Twins: Domingo German vs. Kenta Maeda

The Minnesota Twins are looking to make it a three-game winning streak at home as they play host to the New York Yankees on Wednesday. The Yankees lost the series on Tuesday after their second consecutive loss in Minnesota. Game 3 offers an opportunity for them to stop the slide.

When: Wednesday, April 26, 2023.

Time: 1:10 p.m. EDT.

Where: Target Field, Minneapolis.

TV: NBC Sports Bay Area, YES Network.

Stream: MLB.tv, DirecTv

Moneyline: Twins -121, Yankees +102; over/under is 8 runs.

Pitching matchup: Domingo German will start for the Yankees while the Twins have Kenta Maeda as their starter.

Overall, New York is 13-11 and has a 4-4 record when playing away from home. With a total of 30 home runs and an average of 1.3 home runs per game, the Yankees are now ranked fifth in the AL.

The home team’s record for the Minnesota Vikings is 7-4, and the team’s overall record is 14-10. Hitters for the Twins have a combined slugging percentage of .393, placing them seventh in the American League.

On Wednesday, these two sides will play each other for the seventh time this season. In the season series, the Twins have a 4-2 lead.

The Yankees’ Anthony Rizzo has four doubles and five home runs. In the last 10 games, DJ LeMahieu has gone 11-for-33 with two doubles and a home run.

The Yankees have a record of 5-5 in their last 10 games, with a batting average of .204, a 3.03 earned run average, and a run differential of -6.

Yankees to start with Domingo German

Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports
  • German (1-2) will make his fifth start of the season for the Yankees. He has a 4.50 ERA and has struck out 25 batters in 20 2/3 innings.
  • The right-hander’s last game was Friday against the Toronto Blue Jays. In six innings, he gave up five hits and four earned runs.
  • German wants to make his third straight start that lasts five innings or more. He averages five frames per start.
  • In one German start this season, the Yankees were the favorites on the moneyline, and they lost.
  • In German’s four starts, his team has a record of 1-3.
  • In each of German’s four starts with a total this season, his team has fallen short of the total.
  • In his last game against the Twins, Domingo German dominated them and came close to pitching a perfect game as the Yankees defeated them 6-1 on Saturday afternoon. The Minnesota attempt to spoil his great day by accusing him of using sticky substances, which resulted in a substance test and a warning to clean his hands, failed to materialize. They couldn’t stop Domingo German from enjoying the finest start of his career, as he got the first 15 batters out, striking 10 out.

Yankees Injured List: Giancarlo Stanton, Jonathan Loaisiga, Tommy Kahnle, Josh Donaldson, Frankie Montas, Lou Trivino, Harrison Bader, Carlos Rodon, Luis Severino, Luis Gil, Scott Effross, Ben Rortvedt.
