NY POST reported that the Yankees would limit their offer to Juan Soto at $40 million annually to avoid upsetting Aaron Judge are inaccurate.
According to the tabloid, a source familiar with the team’s plans confirmed that the claim, labeled a “lie” by the source, was dismissed. The insider clarified that no one within the organization has suggested capping their offer. Aaron Judge, known for prioritizing the team’s success over personal gain, is reportedly more focused on the Yankees’ performance than salary comparisons.
Rumors of Yankees salary cap for Juan Soto deal dismissed

The Yankees are expected to pursue Juan Soto aggressively, facing competition from the Mets, Giants, and Blue Jays. The Blue Jays, in particular, are serious contenders, with Vladimir Guerrero Jr. reportedly eager to see Soto join the team. Both the Giants and Blue Jays had previously attempted to trade for Soto before the Yankees completed their deal with the Padres, a trade that has benefited both teams. The Dodgers, as always, remain potential players in this high-stakes bidding war.
Yankees strategy
Recently, the Yankees have made key roster decisions, opting for Alex Verdugo over Jasson Dominguez and Jon Berti or Oswaldo Cabrera over Ben Rice. Clarke Schmidt has also been prioritized over Luis Gil. These moves have paid off, contributing to the Yankees’ success as they prepare for the postseason.
As the Yankees look ahead to the offseason, their focus remains on making a strong push for Juan Soto, with no internal salary restrictions influencing their approach.
