Boggs, 66, shared a video on X showing the moment, with Smoke on the Water by Deep Purple playing in the background. The Hall of Famer revealed his diagnosis in September, vowing to fight the disease. “I’ve never been a goal-oriented person, but with the strength and support of my family and my faith in God, I’m going to ring that damn bell. #positiveattitude,” he wrote at the time.
Boggs played five seasons with the Yankees from 1993 to 1997, collecting 702 hits with a .313 batting average across 601 games. He helped lead New York’s return to prominence in the mid-1990s, including a World Series championship in 1996.
Inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2005 with 91.5% of the vote, Boggs amassed 3,010 career hits—ranking 30th in MLB history—and posted a lifetime .328 batting average over 18 seasons.
Now, the Yankees legend adds another milestone to his storied career: beating cancer.
