Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, Anthony Rizzo, and Gleyber Torres all homered as the New York Yankees managed to win their 7th straight game, 12-2, against the Kansas City Royals on Friday.
After 8 innings, the game was called.
New York led 3-2 entering the seventh inning before scoring 4 runs, 3 of which came on Judge’s homer. Torres drove in two runs during a five-run 8th.
Nestor Cortes (1-0) pitched five innings, allowing one earned run and 8 hits.
The Yankees wasted no time in putting the heat on Kris Bubic (0-2). D.J. LeMahieu led off with a double to the right field wall, and Judge lined out to center before Rizzo homered to center.
Stanton hit a 429-foot home run over the bullpen in left, and the Royals brought in a reliever. Bubic, on the other hand, retired the next ten batters and 14 of the final 15 he faced.
With an RBI double in the first inning, Salvador Perez snapped a 0-for-16 slump for the Royals.
Bobby Witt Jr. extended his hitting streak to eight matches with a double with one out in the second. He then decided to break early and outraced Torres to the third spot, but overslid the bag — Royals manager Mike Matheny was ejected after claiming Torres shoved Witt off the base.
With one out in the 7th, Isiah Kiner-Falefa singled, Kyle Higashioka walked, and LeMahieu lined an RBI single off the glove of shortstop Nicky Lopez.
