The New York Yankees fans are the most loyal, true-hearted, and vocal. It is difficult to see them not fighting back against any attack on their team. This is what exactly happened when a Red Sox analyst criticized the Yankees.
In 2020 and 2022, the Sox had bad seasons, but in 2021, they surprised everyone by winning 92 games, getting a Wild Card spot, and making a surprising run to the ALCS. In reference to that run, Thomas Carrieri, who claims to be a Red Sox analyst criticized New York Yankees fans for acting like the Red Sox have been “down so bad.” He pointed out that Boston took the Houston Astros to six games in the ALCS in 21 without Betts, while the Yankees were swept by the Astros in 22 despite having Aaron Judge on their team.
The Yankees vs Red Sox rivalry is baseball’s most talked about topic. And in recent years, it’s true that the Yankees have done better than the Red Sox. Perhaps, this has not gone down well with many in Boston, and the tweet inviting the ire of the Yankees fans is a manifestation of that.
This led to a fightback by many Yankees fans who showed the mirror to the Red Sox analyst.
