New York Yankees 4-1 San Diego Padres

SAN DIEGO — The New York Yankees extended their winning streak with a 4-1 victory over the San Diego Padres in the second game of the series. Aaron Judge stayed in top form, hitting another impressive home run at Petco Park. Starting pitcher Marcus Stroman showcased his prowess, effectively silencing the Padres’ bats for six innings.

The Yankees quickly took the lead. With one out in the first inning, Aaron Judge hammered a towering two-run home run off Dylan Cease (5-4). The 429-foot shot landed deep in the left-center field’s second deck, contributing to the Yankees’ impressive home run tally for the series – five homers, covering a combined distance of 2,089 feet. This homer extended Judge’s streak to four consecutive games and brought his season total to 17. Anthony Volpe set the stage with a leadoff single, paving the way for Judge’s powerful display.

Yankees Flex Power in San Diego, Win Fourth Straight

The New York Yankees asserted their dominance with an emphatic 8-0 win over the San Diego Padres on Friday night. Their offensive prowess was evident, highlighted by four home runs that electrified the scoreboard.

A standout moment featured back-to-back homers by new acquisition Juan Soto, returning to San Diego for the first time since his trade to the Bronx, and the formidable Aaron Judge. This offensive explosion powered the Yankees to their fourth consecutive victory and solidified their lead in the AL East.

The Padres’ offense was mostly subdued throughout the game. Despite the looming threat of a third consecutive home shutout, Fernando Tatis Jr. managed to hit a solo home run in the eighth inning, recording his ninth homer of the season and putting a run on the board.

This defeat ended the Padres’ impressive series winning streak, having won six of their last seven series. Now facing two straight series losses at home, the Padres are eager to reverse their fortunes as the season progresses.

Stroman Shuts Down Padres, Yankees Extend Win Streak

Marcus Stroman continued his dominance over the Padres, securing his fifth consecutive victory against them since 2019. The Yankees‘ ace delivered six scoreless innings, giving up only three hits while striking out five and walking just one. His command on the mound was evident throughout the game.

Stroman’s performance was especially critical in the fourth inning when the Padres had their best chance to score. Jake Cronenworth tripled to right, but Stroman responded by retiring Manny Machado on a fly out, then getting David Peralta to fly out and striking out rookie Jackson Merrill. This masterful pitching preserved the shutout.

The Yankees’ pitching staff extended its remarkable streak, marking the 13th straight game where a Yankees starter pitched at least five innings and allowed no more than two runs. This exceptional consistency highlights the depth and reliability of their rotation.

The bullpen kept up the momentum, with Clay Holmes closing the game with a perfect ninth inning, earning his 15th save of the season.

On offense, the Yankees steadily chipped away at Padres starter Dylan Cease. Anthony Rizzo, a former Padre, contributed with an RBI single in the fourth inning. Gleyber Torres added a sacrifice fly, further extending the Yankees’ lead. Cease struggled against the Yankees’ hitters, yielding four runs on eight hits over 6 2/3 innings.
