The New York Yankees appeared to benefit from the weather during their recent game against the Cardinals. In the seventh inning, despite the Cardinals dominating with an 11-1 lead, a weather delay was caused due to Mother Nature’s intervention. The stadium was quickly covered with a protective tarp, halting play abruptly in the middle of the seventh inning, leaving the Cardinals comfortably ahead of the Yankees.
Despite the severe weather impacting Busch Stadium, the rain delay in the first game of the day-night doubleheader eventually ended. The game resumed, and the Cardinals managed to secure an impressive victory with a final score of 11-4. However, it’s worth noting that according to MLB rules, if a weather delay occurs after the fifth inning and the team losing at that point calls off the game, they would be considered to have lost.
According to Weather.com, St. Louis was under a “severe thunderstorm watch” on Saturday. The city was expected to experience storms for a few hours, with a possibility of clearing up around 6 p.m. CT. However, scattered thunderstorms were anticipated to return around 8 p.m., with a greater than 50 percent chance of rain an hour later.
The Yankees’ second game was scheduled to resume at 7:30 PM CT. Prior reports suggested that the team planned to rely on their bullpen with an opener, depending on the reliever used in Game 1. As a backup option, Sunday’s game at Busch Stadium was considered if weather conditions worsened.

Despite the weather delay in the first game, the Cardinals made it known that the second game would proceed as planned.
It’s worth noting that adverse weather conditions have impacted previous games between these two teams, as demonstrated by a game postponed just last Friday due to heavy rain.

The Yankees must maintain their mental preparedness, adapt their strategies, and stay focused until the game can commence. The players’ physical and mental endurance will be put to the test as they navigate the challenges posed by the weather delay and the accompanying uncertainty.
Once again, the weather has played a pivotal role in shaping the contest between the New York Yankees and the Cardinals. The weather delay brought about a pause filled with questions and uncertainties for the Yankees, but it also offered an opportunity for a momentum shift and an exciting comeback in the second game of the series.

Good thing mother nature intervened….we had the cards right where we wanted them. Lol
With exception of Cole, the rest of the starting rotation has had enough time to bring value to the team. Sometimes I think we’d be better off using our bullpen innings 1-9.
