For the second time this week, Fenway Park will host a day-night doubleheader between the historic rivals, the Red Sox and the Yankees. This unexpected scheduling twist comes in the wake of Wednesday’s game cancellation due to heavy rain in the Boston area.
The action kicks off with Game 1 at 1:35 p.m. on Thursday, followed by the regularly scheduled series finale at 7:15 p.m. ET. Fans holding tickets for Wednesday’s washout will find them valid for entry into the rescheduled contest.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone expressed uncertainty about the workload his team will face, remarking, “We’ll have a lot more [innings] to cover tomorrow, so we’ll see. It just depends on how the games go.”
The decision to postpone Wednesday’s game was made at 9 p.m., nearly two hours past the initially scheduled start time of 7:10 p.m. Unfortunately, this weather-induced delay isn’t the only hiccup in this series. Originally slated to begin on Monday, the first game was also washed out due to rain. The Yankees capitalized on Tuesday’s day-night doubleheader, sweeping both games with scores of 3-2 and 4-1, which propelled them into a tie with the Red Sox for fourth place in the American League East. Both teams currently hold 73-72 records with just 17 games remaining in the season.

For these two storied franchises, avoiding last place is a significant motivation. The Red Sox have experienced a challenging September, losing six of their last seven games and 11 out of 15, despite being in contention for the third AL Wild Card spot for much of the season. On the other hand, the Yankees are striving to prevent their first losing season since 1992 and have won 11 of their last 15 games.
Where to watch Yankees vs. Red Sox?

Thursday’s rescheduled game will be broadcast on MLB Network for both teams. Additionally, NESN will air the game for the Red Sox, and Amazon Prime will broadcast it for the Yankees. The regularly scheduled evening game will be televised on FOX. Fans can tune in to the action in English on WEEI 93.7 FM and in Spanish on WAMG 890 AM/WCCM 1490 AM.
In conclusion, the rivalry between the Red Sox and Yankees continues to be fraught with scheduling challenges and intense competition, making every matchup between these two iconic teams an event to remember.
