In Game 5 of the ALDS, the Yankees trounced the Guardians 5-1. This led to a lot of tweets and memes from fans.

The Yankees had to wait through two rain delays and five games before they could say they were going to the ALCS.

In Game 5, New York beat Aaron Civale of Cleveland in the first inning, giving them an early lead. The rest of the game didn’t give them much trouble.

Since Josh Naylor’s “rock the baby” home run celebration from Game 4 was talked about a lot during the game, it shouldn’t be a surprise that Twitter was full of jokes about it after the last out.

Here are the best memes and tweets.

NYY fans and players enjoyed the moment to the fullest.

This doesn't happen if we won it in easier fashion.. losing game 2 and 3 .. the way we did made this a more emotional release! .. #Yankees #repbx #Postseason #mlb pic.twitter.com/PyiueB3Zed

Yankees are now 4-0 when Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton both homer in the same postseason game

— New York Yankees Stats (@nyyankeesstats) October 18, 2022

Nestor Cortes is the 4th different Yankees starting pitcher in the postseason in the Wild Card Era (since 1995) to allow 1 or 0 runs in 5 innings pitched on three days rest.

Giancarlo Stanton‘s home run gave the Yankees a 3-0 lead in the first. In the second, Aaron Judge added to the lead with his home run. After falling behind, Cleveland didn’t know what to do, especially since Nestor Cortes pitched five strong innings after three days off.

Even though they lost, fans of the Guardians were still in a good mood because they had done so well this season.

Congrats to the Yankees. If not for rain, the 2016 World Series champion Cleveland baseball team would be headed to the 2022 ALCS (strictly according to those of us in Cleveland, of course).

— Anthony Castrovince (@castrovince) October 18, 2022

The Guardians' season comes to an end with a 5-1 loss to the Yankees in Game 5 of the ALDS.

What an unexpectedly fun year of baseball. The foundation is set for an entertaining future.

Is it Opening Day yet?

— Mandy Bell (@MandyBell02) October 18, 2022

i am so damn proud of this team. played their hearts out all year, far exceeding expectations. what a fun year for our cleveland guardians. ❤️pic.twitter.com/PFxgA60rME

The 2022 script was something special: the youngest team in baseball, a division title, and a 92-win season while peppering in some gritty come from behind wins and the emergence of some bright, young stars.

This chapter closes, but the story of this group is far from over. pic.twitter.com/3rtlE4zQiy

Now all eyes will be on the game against the Astros. Fans in Houston want to end the Yankees’ season again, while fans in New York will see this series as a chance to make things right.

I can’t believe it’s really Yankees-Astros again. Round 3. Just simply can’t lose to them again. None of this season matters if they don’t advance this time. Need the revenge

— Jared Carrabis (@Jared_Carrabis) October 18, 2022

They meet again. For the third time since 2017, the Astros and Yankees will meet in the ALCS. Game 1 is set for Wednesday at Minute Maid Park.

The Astros eliminated the Yankees from postseason in 2015, ‘17 and ‘19.

ITS TIME FOR SOME FATHER-SON BONDING

SEE YOU TOMORROW @yankees pic.twitter.com/yiknvlPLOG

— Astros 2026 Champs (@AstrosOptimism2) October 18, 2022

Since 2015, the Astros and Yankees have met three times in the postseason. The last two times they played each other was in the ALCS, and Houston won both times. The two best teams in the American League have played each other before. It should be an amazing show.

What do you think about who will win the ALCS? Leave your comment below.
