The New York Yankees (66-33) will face the Kansas City Royals (39-59) on Thursday at 7:05 p.m. ET, with both teams on two-game losing streaks.

The Yankees are a (-226) home favorite over the Royals (+186). The pitching matchup for this game is set, with the New York Yankees looking to Jameson Taillon (10-2), and the Kansas City Royals looking to Brady Singer (4-3).

Jameson Taillon vs. Brady Singer on Thursday (7:05 PM ET)

Taillon (10-2) will make his 20th start of the season for the Yankees. The right-hander last pitched against the Baltimore Orioles on Friday, giving up two earned runs and four hits in 2 2/3 innings. This season, the 30-year-old has pitched in 19 games, with an ERA of 3.93, a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 5.6, and a WHIP of 1.155. In 19 starts this season, he has earned a quality start five times. Taillon has pitched through or beyond the fifth inning 15 times in 19 starts. He has 5.1 frames per game on the season.

Gerrit Cole vs. Kris Bubic on Friday (7:05 PM ET)

Cole appeared to be on his way to a win in Baltimore over the weekend, allowing only three hits and no runs in the first 4 innings. He was hit for two runs in the fifth inning by the Orioles, but he settled down after that.

Nestor Cortes vs. Zack Greinke on Saturday (2:05 PM ET)

Cortes’ ERA had risen from 1.50 to 2.74 over six starts in June and July, and he had appeared to be fading after his incredible start. However, in his last two games, he’s proved why he’s an All-Star.

Jordan Montgomery vs. TBD on Sunday (1:35 PM ET)

For a pitcher who has frequently been on the receiving end of run support, the Yankees gave Montgomery a perfect start against the Mets, only for him to blow the lead in the first inning, dooming them to a loss. In general, he has struggled in recent weeks, posting a 4.97 ERA and 4.88 FIP in his last seven starts.
