Just a little opening, and the Yankees pounced
Marwin Gonzalez, Gleyber Torres, and DJ LeMahieu each walk against toughest relievers just before the big swings in New York’s seven-run eighth inning.
Giancarlo Stanton homered twice and a career-high six runs and New York get their 4th straight win.
The league-leading Yankees also got hits from Aaron Judge and Josh Donaldson in the first game of an eight-game trip. Judge had 4 RBI, and Donaldson had 3.
New York managed to win 16th times in 18 games. Stanton off to the best start for the franchise since the Yankees went 23-8 in 2003.
In the seventh inning, Yoán Moncada hit his first home run of the season, a three-run shot against Jonathan Loáisiga (1-1).
It didn’t really matter.
After Joe Kelly (0-1) struck out the first 2 batters of the eighth inning, New York put their best scoring inning of the season.
Three consecutive walks loaded the bases for Judge. Torres brushed off third-base for a 9-7 lead.
Boone brought Torres up to bat for Kyle Higashioka. He trailed 0-2 before drawing a seven-pitch walk.
Stanton followed with 2 single, and Donaldson with 3 home run to left off Tanner Banks.
Stanton also hit 2 homers, his first of the season and 35th of his career. It was his second match with two opposite-field shots.
Judge’s 11th homer, which came leading off the seventh inning, traveled an approximate 456 feet to left center.
Rookie Luis Gil allowed 4 runs and 5 hits in four innings, which played a doubleheader against Texas on Sunday.

Gerrit Cole will pitches for New York in Friday. He allowed one run and struck out 25 in 19 innings. Vince Velasquez will go for his third straight win.
