A local hero is on the verge of an extraordinary fan experience! Bobby Harris, co-owner of several beloved Westchester restaurants, is set to enjoy a weekend in Miami alongside Yankees legend Derek Jeter, all thanks to his lighthearted participation in an Optimum contest.
The journey began when Harris, a fervent contest participant, came across an Instagram post by Optimum in search of “G.O.A.T.s” (Greatest Offer of All Time) among local business owners. The award is to spend the weekend with Derek Jeter. Submitting his entry, the restaurateur highlighted his significant community contributions, from spearheading the Mount Pleasant Chamber of Commerce to fundraising for the local food bank and Blythedale Children’s Hospital.

Derek Jeter initiative also allows $1,000 reward

To his delight, Harris emerged as one of the 10 national winners, earning an extended weekend in Miami with the iconic Derek Jeter. And to add the perfect finishing touch, he secured a $1,000 donation to Feeding Westchester, a cause personally selected by Harris.

This triumph coincides with other exciting Yankees-related developments. The local brewery, Wolf & Warrior, recently joined forces with baseball legend and Westchester resident Paul O’Neill to reintroduce the “Warrior 21” IPA, named after O’Neill’s jersey number. This collaboration achieves a triple milestone: the first hazy/Northeast-style IPA brewed with a professional baseball player, the inaugural beer featuring a Yankees player, and the first-ever beer crafted with a World Series champion.
Whether you’re a sports enthusiast or a community advocate, these narratives underscore the potential of putting oneself forward and the gratifying connections that can ensue. Who knows, your next Instagram entry might pave the way for an unforgettable experience!
