Oswald Peraza, a former Top 100 prospect, has rejoined the Yankees' lineup as of August 14, 2024.

In 2023, Oswald Peraza lost his place to Anthony Volpe and the next season, the Yankees found him unconvincing despite a consistent gap at the third base. However, his present hot streak is posing a challenge to the Yankees’ plans.

His overall performance in Triple-A this season has been lackluster, with a .239/.346/.347 slash line over 58 games and 261 plate appearances, resulting in a below-average 85 wRC+. These numbers have made it difficult for the Yankees to justify promoting Oswald Peraza to the major league roster.

But Oswald Peraza has shown signs of improvement recently. In the 20 games prior to Sunday, dating back to July 6, he has demonstrated a significant uptick in offensive production. During this stretch, Peraza has posted an impressive .308/.400/.551 slash line, along with a .951 OPS and a 145 wRC+.

This recent surge in performance suggests that Oswald Peraza may be regaining the form that once made him a highly touted prospect in the Yankees‘ system. If he can sustain this level of play, it could potentially reignite discussions about his future role with the team and provide the Yankees with additional infield depth options.

Oswald Peraza’s big Sunday

Oswald Peraza delivered a standout performance on Sunday, propelling the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders to a 5-2 victory over the Louisville Bats with two crucial home runs. He wasted no time making an impact, launching a 421-foot solo shot in the bottom of the first inning to give the RailRiders an early 1-0 advantage. The Yankees rookie followed up with another impressive display of power in the fourth inning, regaining the lead for his team with his second home run of the game, putting the RailRiders up 2-1.

Oops, he did it again! 🎶💣

This explosive outing is part of a broader trend of improvement for Oswald Peraza. Over his last 21 games, he has accumulated six home runs, demonstrating to the Yankees organization that his bat could indeed be a valuable asset.

Despite the current crowded state of the Yankees’ infield, Oswald Peraza’s sustained hot streak could potentially force the team to reconsider their roster decisions in the coming weeks. His versatility as a capable defender at both shortstop and third base adds to his appeal as a potential backup infielder at the major league level.

The question now remains whether Oswald Peraza’s recent surge in performance will be enough to reinsert him into the Yankees’ future plans. His ability to maintain this level of play in the near term could be crucial in determining his path back to the major leagues and his role within the organization.

Cashman & his gang do this all the time. All of the sudden they will sour on a prospect, and instead, turn him into organizational depth. Occasionally they won’t believe in a prospect but won’t trade him either.

Great Comment, AlanFromQueens.

Cashman & Boone mishandle Prospects with a regularity that would make EX-LAX green with envy, which probably explains their adoration for Gleyber, who should be a Spokesman for EX-LAX, given the regularity with which he defecates on the field on ground balls & throws, not to mention hitting & running the bases.

The ONLY Time the Die-namic Duo of Cashman & Boone give a kid enough time to adjust to MLB competition is when they’re FORCED to by circumstances, usually injuries.

For evidence, you don’t have to look any further than Volpe, Wells, and Gil. EVERY ONE OF THOSE KIDS EVENTUALLY EXCELLED–after the Yankees were FORCED to go with them full time & they were ALLOWED to make mistakes & learn from their mistakes, which is the typically maturation of a Young Player.

And you can add Cabrera to that group, to a somewhat lesser degree, as someone who played Significantly Better when he was given regular ABs as a starter. But, of course, Dumbledee and Dumble-doo (aka Cashman & Boone) brought an end to that growing success as quickly as possible.

Yet, Dumbledee and Dumble-doo are More Than Happy to give Veteran Dung Piles — like Caleb Ferguson, Dennis Santana, JD Davis, Aaron Hicks, Josh Donaldson, Joey “Head Case” Gallo, and Gleyber Torres — DOZENS, if not THOUSANDS of Chances to Suck More Than 3-Dozen Hoover Vacuum Cleaners.

But let a kid screw up once or twice & they REAR Up (exposing their intelligence centers) and scream, “Get thee to a nunnery in Scranton, PA!”

Unless they have no other option but to stick with the kid, of course.
