The New York Yankees’ prized center fielder prospect Jasson Dominguez is nearing a return to the field, nearly five months after undergoing Tommy John surgery. Dominguez is poised to ramp up his rehab on Monday with renewed vigor.

Randy Miller of NJ Advance Media reported that Jasson Dominguez is set to start hitting on February 28th and throw a baseball again this Monday. If all goes well, Miller suggests Dominguez could make rehab appearances in minor league games as early as April. By June, the 21-year-old switch-hitter might come off the injured list to make his highly anticipated MLB debut after a rehab stint across Yankees affiliates.

“If things keep going as well as they’ve been going, [Jasson] Dominguez might be playing extended spring training games in Tampa by April,” Miller predicted. “And by June, after probably a month’s worth of rehab games for Yankees’ minor-league affiliates, the rookie who just turned 21 on Feb. 7 might be ready to come off the injured list and help the Yankees.”

This week marked important milestones for Jasson Dominguez, whose determination throughout rehab has been noteworthy. With medical clearance, he resumed throwing on Monday, an integral step forward. More throwing sessions are slated for Wednesday and Friday as he makes daily progress. Yankees manager Aaron Boone radiated optimism regarding Dominguez’s advancement, stressing the importance of these small wins.

Looking further ahead, February 28th looms large, Miller notes. That day kicks off Jasson Dominguez’s hitting program, inching the phenom closer to game action. If improvement persists, April might see Dominguez playing spring training contests in Tampa. Come June, he could rejoin the Yankees roster following minor league tune-up outings.

Rehab doing fine? It seems so, according to Boone’s words

Yankees manager Aaron Boone has expressed optimism regarding Jasson Dominguez’s recovery since undergoing Tommy John surgery. Boone stressed the importance of not rushing back too quickly and following a structured rehab regimen. However, he radiated positivity when discussing the latest steps in Dominguez’s progression.

This week, Boone highlighted Jasson Dominguez resuming throwing as an integral advancement. Further throwing sessions scheduled throughout the week suggest his rehab remains on track. Hitting is expected to follow, with Dominguez potentially facing live pitching in extended spring training by April.

While the Yankees remain cautious, Boone’s encouraging updates imply Jasson Dominguez is healing well. “If things keep going as well as they’ve been going,” Boone said, Dominguez may only be months away from his much-anticipated Bronx debut, following minor league preparation. So far, it appears the prized young switch-hitter’s recovery is meeting, if not exceeding, expectations.

Nevertheless, Jasson Dominguez’s comeback demands judicious planning and patience. Boone emphasized structuring a progressive spring training to ready Dominguez while protecting long-term health over rushing back. Each positive step fuels hopes, as Dominguez’s work ethic shines through.

In the storied Yankees clubhouse, Jasson Dominguez occupies rarefied air thanks to his burgeoning gifts, though his eventual role remains uncertain. Strategic lineup changes or Triple-A stints are possible, as the Yankees weigh options. One certainty persists – Dominguez’s return starts a new era in the Bronx.

Jasson Dominguez’s young career embodies peaks and valleys – from an auspicious debut to Tommy John surgery setbacks. But his resilience and spirit persist, fueling this next chapter as he looks to inspire Yankees fans for years to come.

It bears noting that earlier this week the Yankees placed Jasson Dominguez on a 60-day injured list. Per manager Aaron Boone, the team aims to pace Dominguez’s return judiciously before deciding on assignments. As Boone wisely put it: “Those decisions get made for themselves over time.”

In closing, Jasson Dominguez has been nearing his rightful return to the diamond after nearly five months away from baseball activities. The 2023 Yankees campaign was immensely disappointing, but one of the few bright spots was Jasson Dominguez, who showed his prodigious talent can shine at Yankee Stadium. Despite injury setbacks, Dominguez has demonstrated resilience and determination that could make him a pillar of the Yankees’ future.
