Former New York Yankees shortstop and captain Derek Jeter celebrated his upcoming 50th birthday with a surprise party organized by his wife, Hannah, at ZZ’s Club in New York. The celebration, held in advance of Derek Jeter’s actual birthday on Wednesday, was attended by many of his former Yankees teammates and colleagues.
Notable guests included former Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia, long-time Yankee Bernie Williams, ex-manager Joe Torre, former catcher Jorge Posada, and Tino Martinez. The group enjoyed a lively atmosphere with music provided by DJ Kid Capri and took numerous photos together to commemorate the occasion.
Derek Jeter shared highlights from the event on social media, expressing his gratitude to Hannah for the surprise. The centerpiece of the celebration was a cake shaped like a World Series trophy, adorned with five stars above the initials “DJ50,” symbolizing Jeter’s five World Series championships.
Family members, including Derek Jeter’s sister Sharlee, president of his Turn 2 Foundation, were also present at the event. The party underscored the enduring relationships the captain has maintained with his former teammates and the broader baseball community. It also offered a rare glimpse into the personal life of the retired baseball star, who has kept his family life relatively private.
Derek Jeter and Hannah, a former Sports Illustrated model, met in 2012 and married in 2016. They have four children: a son, Kaius Green, and three daughters, Bella Raine, Story Grey, and River Rose.
Since retiring from baseball, the Yankees legend has explored various opportunities, including working as a Fox Sports analyst. He recently provided coverage for the Negro League tribute game at Rickwood Field in Alabama.
The celebration not only marked a milestone birthday for Derek Jeter but also highlighted his lasting impact on baseball and his ongoing influence in the sports world.
