De Los Santos struggled in his short stint with the Yankees, giving up seven earned runs in 1 2/3 innings during an outing against the White Sox on Monday, a performance that likely sealed his fate with the club.
Prior to joining the Yankees, De Los Santos posted a 4.46 ERA in 44 appearances for San Diego. While his overall numbers were mediocre, his underlying metrics suggested he was more effective than his ERA indicated, with a 3.22 SIERA and 3.91 xFIP. De Los Santos had been a reliable arm for the Cleveland Guardians from 2022-23, posting a 3.18 ERA over 120 games, but he struggled to find his footing in New York.
