The New York Yankees are interested in Shohei Ohtani for a long. They should be ready to get the Angels’ two-way player sooner than later to bolster their sagging fortunes. However, this demands an ideal trade scenario where the Yankees come up with a proposal that must be enticing to the Angels and Ohtani.

Yankees need Ohtani

The extended absence of Aaron Judge has greatly impacted the team, as the franchise heavily depends on his contributions. Furthermore, injuries to starting pitchers such as Nestor Cortes Jr. and Carlos Rodon have further hindered the Yankees’ ability to climb up the standings in the American League.

The Yankees have had a hard time dealing with the losses of many players and the problems that star players like Giancarlo Stanton and Josh Donaldson have had to deal with. Because of this, it’s very possible that New York will do a lot of trading before the 2023 MLB trade deadline. Shohei Ohtani is one of the best and most well-known baseball stars right now, and there is a good chance that he could become available before August 1.

This time around, the Los Angeles Angels find themselves in the midst of genuine playoff contention, which may lead them to make one final push with Ohtani before attempting to persuade him to remain with the organization in free agency. Losing Ohtani without gaining any return after this season would be a catastrophic outcome, prompting the Angels to carefully consider New York’s most compelling trade offer for the Japanese superstar.

Yankees’ perfect Shohei Ohtani proposal

If the Yankees offer Everson Pereira, Elijah Dunham, and Will Warren to the Angels, they may be able to land Shohei Ohtani at Yankees Stadium.

If the Angels decide that they don’t have a good chance of getting Ohtani to stay with them for a long time, they need to finish the move with the Yankees as soon as possible.

With this deal, Los Angeles would get three very promising prospects who have a good chance of having a bright future with the Angels. Some people might think that the package doesn’t have enough stars, so it might be a good idea to add a young reliever like Clarke Schmidt to the deal.

New York must prioritize safeguarding their top farm prospect, Jasson Dominguez, by refraining from including him in the deal, considering his anticipated significant role for the team in 2024 and beyond. Additionally, the Yankees need to acknowledge the possibility that Ohtani could simply be a rental player if he chooses to sign elsewhere once his contract expires after the season. While they should pursue Ohtani with determination, it is essential for general manager Brian Cashman to exercise caution, especially considering some of his past moves that did not yield the desired results.

While the Yankees possess an exceptional starting rotation, their main concern lies in the durability of their pitchers. Domingo German recently achieved a perfect game, making him a potential candidate for the fifth starter position if the entire rotation remains healthy. Although it may appear unnecessary to add Ohtani to the rotation, it has become evident that the Yankees require more dependable postseason options beyond their ace Gerrit Cole.

Ohtani’s coming in New York will give a batting order that hasn’t been very productive in a long time a much-needed boost of power. The Yankees have depended a lot on older players who are past their best, so Ohtani’s presence in the middle of their lineup is a huge boost. If Ohtani moves to the Bronx, Giancarlo Stanton might have to give up his spot as the designated hitter. This would mean that Stanton would have to be ready to start in left field.

The return package from the Yankees, in terms of prospects, is not overly burdensome as their top offering is the fourth-ranked prospect, Everson Pereira. Serving as the centerpiece of the deal, Pereira possesses the potential to develop into an elite pitcher and contribute around 20 home runs in the major leagues. Elijah Dunham will provide the Angels with added outfield depth and a reliable presence, while Will Warren offers a solid arm to bolster their bullpen.

The Yankees must consider Ohtani as a potential game-changing asset, and it is crucial that they do not allow him to slip away before the deadline.

  1. This article must have been written by Orson Wells, because it’s as unbelievable as his radio broadcast of aliens landing on earth!

    1. It depends on who they plan to sacrifice in return. The Yankees have given up too many great players and I think the return has been negligible. If they started respecting the players they have, things would go a lot better.

  2. This dude is absolutely nuts if he thinks the Angels will take that deal. Look at what the Padres gave up for Soto last year and as of right now Ohtani is waaaaay better than Soto. The Angels know they won’t be able to afford him in the off-season so if they do trade him they will want an arm and a leg, maybe two legs.

  3. At times it’s painful being a Yankee fan but never moreso then right now. Seriously that trade proposal is 10% of what Ohtani is worth.
No wonder other fan bases hate us.

  4. Why the heck would the Angels trade for a back up outfielder ? One position they are secure in is outfielders. Ohtani has stated he wants to stay on the west coast, last time I looked New York doesn’t fit that bill. If the Yankees prospects are so damn good why are they not with the big club, they have plenty of holes to plug. This is not a can’t miss trade proposal, as a matter of fact this guy is dreaming.

  5. Stop the shit and make the deal happen. Make it happen yesterday and get him in the Bronx. (PERIOD)

  6. Why would he re-sign with an organization that has no chance of winning anything, and considering that Trout doesn’t play a full season anymore

  7. Angels won’t resign him, will cost to much and they have other needs. Not sure Yankee owner is willing to resign for 8 years at 45 million a year. As for trade for two months Angel’s won’t do much better if include Schmidt.

  8. The Yankees need to stop whining and crying. Deal with the poor deals they have made. Get rid of these high priced, overpaid underachieving players. Start relying on the farm system. Most of all stop trying to buy a pennant already. They need to clean house including whining Boone and Cashman. And most of all get rid of this self entitled idea that every superstar has to and wants to play for the Yankees. I’m surprised they are not trying to to say and Elly DE La Cruz will be their next short stop. Very annoying. But I enjoy watching their misery.
