On Sunday in Tampa, during the first inning, the Yankees didn’t do much and didn’t score any runs. They had some problems in the field, which helped the other team score runs. Carlos Rodon, who still had to throw two more pitches after these mistakes, faced Brandon Lowe, who hit the ball into the Ray Tank. After this, Rodon faced more problems by allowing runners to get on base until the bases were loaded at Tropicana Field.

The situation made the starting pitcher very angry while he was in the dugout. Carlos Rodon managed to prevent more negative outcomes on the field, which is allowed according to the rules. He walked around the dugout with intense anger in his eyes. This might have been the moment during the season that most people could understand and relate to.

The error that infuriated Carlos Rodon

The unfortunate ending of the Yankees’ season got worse during the first inning on Sunday against the Rays. A series of mistakes happened, almost like a funny mess, which quickly gave Tampa Bay the lead.

At the beginning of the inning, Randy Arozarena hit the ball to the left side and got a single against Carlos Rodon. Then, Harold Ramirez hit the ball, but it went straight to the second baseman, and he was caught out.

This is the point where things started to fall apart quickly for the Yankees, and the same happened for Carlos Rodon.

On an 0-1 pitch to Brandon Lowe, Arozarena began heading to second base. The catcher, Kyle Higashioka, made a throw to center field that went too far. Kyle Higashioka’s throw went over Anthony Volpe’s head. Because of this, Randy Arozarena got the opportunity to go to third base.

Arozarena stood up and started running towards third base. Harrison Bader threw the ball to third base, but it bounced in front of Oswald Peraza. Then, the ball went past him and even past Rodon, who was trying to help near the play.

The mistakes made by the Yankees, who were in last place, gave Arozarena the chance to score the first run of the game.

After that, on Carlos Rodon’s very next pitch, Lowe hit a powerful solo home run. The ball went all the way into the stingray tank located beyond the fence in the right-center area of Tropicana Field.

When the Yankees were losing by a score of 2-0, Isaac Paredes hit a single. Then Carlos Rodon accidentally hit Osleivis Basabe with a pitch. Following this, Luke Raley got another hit, which filled the bases with players and only one out. However, Carlos Rodon managed to regain control. He got Jose Siri out by making him hit a softly hit ball to the shortstop, which was caught. Then, he struck out Christian Bethancourt.

Afterward, the Yankees managed to equalize the score and eventually got ahead by hitting three home runs during the third and fourth innings. First, Higashioka hit one, then DJ LeMahieu hit another, and finally, Anthony Volpe hit a two-run home run. This made them lead by two runs.

However, the mistake and Carlos Rodon’s response reveal a key reason for their decline in 2023.

The management has, unfortunately, given up on 2023. When that happens, the players also lose focus and give up. By bringing in the rookies before the Yankees were out of contention for the Wild Card place, the management officially surrendered the season.

Rodin had been struggling but has been gaining his form so watching runs score due to errors or if not ruled an error, bad defense, his concentration was compromised and he gave up runs that I’m sure would never have happened. This was the whole reason why the Yankees lost. Unfortunately Rodin pitched well enough that he could have easily gotten a win. Talk to Cole, he hasn’t been getting support all season. At this point in the season. he should have over 15 wins.

Rodon needs to pitch better period. He can’t make it out of the 5th. Pathetic.

The Yankees didn’t give up. They were unable to make a trade because their players are untradable

They played that way all season. Ho hustle, no energy in players. No control of team by Boone.

I wonder if the position players were having tantrums on the bench in almost every other Rodon outing when he got absolutely shelled….

Tampa would be a much shorter drive for me, the Rays play their home games in St. Petersburg.

Gleyber Torres’ weak non-play on a bloop off of Ian Hamilton to deep second base in the next game led to 4 runs and a loss. You could see the frustration on Hamilton’s face. Torres is awful in the field..

Who ever made the comment the Yankee players are und trade able must be on something, you can always make trades even if you 🤔 think their und trade able, remember if you’re the NY Yankees no one wants to help you in your dilemma 🙏 no matter what , they have the resources besides having funds to get players , they made trades to get Rizzo and Gallo, that means something theirs no excuse for the Yankees to be in this mess in this 2023 season.
