Yankees captain Aaron Judge is optimistic about the upcoming season, believing that it will be a great one. He acknowledged the disappointment of not playing in October but emphasized that the extra time during the offseason would be beneficial in preparing for the upcoming season. For this, he is gearing up to take a lot of steps.

“I think it’s going to be a great season next year, and it’s going to be a great offseason for us,” Aaron Judge told The Post. “There are a lot of steps I gotta take and I think just having those conversations and getting everything rolling with this extra month we get off in October — I’m looking forward to it.”

The 31-year-old right fielder, who expressed his eagerness to contribute to internal discussions following the Yankees‘ elimination from playoff contention last month, is diligently progressing through various steps to bring about positive changes this offseason. Aaron Judge is also confident that the Yankees’ early exit from the 2023 season has allowed him more time to prepare for the 2024 season.

Aaron Judge’s offseason plans

According to Aaron Judge, his offseason has been progressing well and it has been a busy period with focuses on addressing several important aspects. He conceded that there are various steps he needs to take, and he is looking forward to the extra month of the offseason that October provides.

Following the Yankees’ elimination from postseason contention, Aaron Judge firmly voiced his belief that changes are imperative in The Bronx. It appears that steps are now being taken in the right direction.

“It’s been going good,” Aaron Judge explained. “It’s definitely been a busy offseason. I think a lot of it is about taking care of a couple steps. It’s tough not playing in October, but I think this time will help us get ready for the season.”

Aaron Judge assumed the role of Yankees captain in his inaugural season, but unfortunately, it didn’t lead to postseason play. The Yankees’ hopes for an AL wild-card spot were dashed with a 7-1 loss to the Diamondbacks in The Bronx on September 22. This marked the first time the MLB postseason excluded the Yankees since 2016, concluding their season with an 82-80 record, the team’s poorest performance since 1992.

Aaron Judge fulfills kids’ dreams

He was in New York City to participate in a unique event organized by Make-A-Wish and Fanatics. This partnership has designated the digital sports platform as the “Official Sports Partner” for the wish-granting organization.

The launch event, hosted at Barclays Center in New York City, saw Aaron Judge, alongside renowned quarterback Tom Brady and Boston Celtics All-Star Jayson Tatum, grant the wishes of nine children battling critical illnesses.

In the near future, Aaron Judge plans to return to Barclays Center to enjoy a few Brooklyn Nets games as the 2023 NBA season kicks off on October 24.

Aaron Judge revealed that the majority of his offseason is dedicated to preparing for the upcoming season. He plans to spend some quality time with family and focus on resetting his body and mind to ensure he’s ready for the next season. Additionally, he mentioned taking a short vacation during the offseason.

However, Aaron Judge’s engagement with Make-A-Wish and Fanatics served as a reminder of more important matters. He expressed his delight at witnessing the joy and excitement on the children’s faces, emphasizing that these moments were what truly mattered. The Yankees slugger considered the event an opportunity to provide a special and unforgettable experience for the kids and their families.

Aaron Judge shared how he planned to discuss the impactful day with his wife, Samantha Bracksieck. They, along with Brady and Tatum, eagerly joined the event after being contacted by Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin.

Aaron Judge mentioned that he would discuss with his wife the incredible strength he witnessed in the children during the event. He reflected on how these kids, despite battling health issues, continued to show up with smiles on their faces and work hard. In his opinion, these children were true warriors and heroes.
