The ball that Aaron Judge hit for his 62nd home run is going to be auctioned off soon, but you shouldn’t expect the New York Yankees star to place a bid for the historic item. He said on Saturday that the 62nd HR ball was outside his price range right now.
Aaron Judge is still a free agent and hasn’t signed the huge new deal he’s expected to sign, so the 30-year-old power hitter joked that he still can’t afford the 62nd HR ball.
“Oh, no. I haven’t signed my free agent deal yet, so I think that’s a little out of my price range right now,” Judge responded when asked whether he was interested to bid for the baseball, according to Bryan Hoch of MLB.com.
For those who don’t know, the 62nd HR ball is expected to sell at auction for more than $3 million. Cory Youmans, the fan who caught it, turned down a $3 million offer for it because he wants to see how much it’s worth on the open market.
“It seems fair in the sense it gives anyone that is interested and has the means the opportunity to own it. As a fan, I’m curious to see what it’s worth, who buys it and what they do with it,” Youmans said.
Recent rumors say that the Yankees offered Aaron Judge a $337 million contract. Even though this is just a rumor, Judge is still expected to make a lot of money when he becomes a free agent in 2022. So, he will definitely be able to buy the ball very soon.
Also, the outfielder for the Yankees still has some time. The famous 62nd HR ball will go up for auction on November 29. Goldin Auctions will be in charge of the sale. Aaron Judge might have already signed his new deal by that time.
How much the baseball can fetch? Let’s know your prediction.
