A video posted by MLB Network on Monday night showed Aaron Judge in a San Francisco hotel. Shortly after the video was posted, it was said that the 2022 AL MVP is in the Bay Area to meet with the Giants, who are one of the teams that are most interested in signing him.
According to MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand, Aaron Judge will meet with the Giants’ top brass on Tuesday. The insider also claimed that the Giants are “one of the biggest threats to the Yankees in the Judge sweepstakes.”
On Monday night, Jon Morosi of MLB Network got a video of Aaron Judge in San Francisco. It looked like the batter was in the lobby of a hotel. The power hitter is the most important free agent available this off-season.
In an on-the-spot interview, the 30-year-old said that he was only there to see family. When asked about his visit to the Bay Area, Aaron Judge replied:
“Just visiting some friends and family. That’s about it.” However, when questioned more, the slugger smiled and tell, “We got something.”
Aaron Judge is from Northern California, and he was a big Giants fan since his childhood. His parents and in-laws still live in Linden, California, which is where he grew up. Linden is less than 100 miles from San Francisco. But Morosi says that the newly-named American League MVP is there to meet with the Giants.
The Giants have been talked about for a long time as one of the teams that might be most likely to try to sign Aaron Judge away from the New York Yankees. Reports say that they won’t let money stop them from signing the reigning AL MVP. Another team in the National League might also want the Yankees outfielder.
The real big news from this clip is, of course, what’s going on under Judge’s chin. The 30-year-old seems to have a little stubble as he gets ready to explore his options during this winter’s most interesting free agency saga.
Even though a meeting doesn’t always mean anything, many people in the industry thought that Aaron Judge would be most interested in the Giants. We’ll see if things get better between the two groups.
Did the Yankees check in on deGrom?
SNY says that the Yankees have asked for medical information on Jacob deGrom. However, the report adds that this doesn’t necessarily mean that the Yankees will go after deGrom in free agency. It seems like this is just a request to make sure everything is in order.
The Yankees’ main goal this offseason is still to bring back Aaron Judge. Until then, they’ll probably keep making backup plans that they hope won’t have to be used. The Mets, the Braves, and the Rangers have also been mentioned as teams that might want to have deGrom.
DeGrom, who is 34, has been one of the best pitchers in baseball since he made his debut in 2014. Since the beginning of 2018, he has been amazing (2.05 ERA, 0.87 WHIP, 876 K, 645 1/3 IP), but arm injuries have limited him to 26 starts over the last two seasons.
